  1. nubbly is very good with the greywing/clearwing/dulites so trust her for sure for that grey greywing (2nd bird) I can't see any signs of spangle in the wings, to me they clearly look normal - also the tail is coloured not white.
  2. yellow face normal sky blue opaline grey normal yellowface hen x grey male (guessing single factor grey) yellowface blues yellow greys greys blues sky blue hen x grey male (guessing single factor grey) sky blues greys all males will be split (carry) the opaline gene
  3. those wing and tail sheaths do look super long..... others that have seen them in real life will tell you more. he does look so cute in that first picture.
  4. yep even more so whn budgies are concerned. they never seem to want to follow our plans. sounds like it is all going well.
  5. he is a nice one!
  6. sorry to hear that she still hasn't got the complete idea of laying. As you don't know her history this may be her first time. 4 eggs is a good amount for her to sit on. and yes the veins mean they are fertile.
  7. Both have the yellow bleeding not their body feathers so they are both type 2, she could be a golden face as her yellow is quite dark. Who are Victor(ia)'s parents? her wings look dutch pied, could we get a shot of her front.

she is a nice one. I would steal her
  9. I LOVE IT!! seems to me the picture was made on the computer - what has it been put on for the sign? Sounds like the breeding is going well. Yes I've been reading but not posting much, usually I get too lazy when reading here after work and such to make posts. I have short nest boxes too at the moment and don't really like them with the top lifting part... I think mine were free too. Well I plan to make a cabinet for my next breeding round, might just make new boxes while I'm at it. Keep us updated

pictures would help greatly, but on on what you have posted and assuming the 'second' pair you mean at the ones in the last picture, I would say recessive pied.
  11. I've not hand feed but others have and will answer. just wanted to say you look to be doing a great job as a first timer - and as a last minute deal to help a friend.
  12. welcome to BBC
  13. the tail is an opaline tail
  14. most stop the hen at 4 years but happily use the males for longer. to answer you Finnie - i don't no any scientific information proving or disproving the belief. BUT if it was true there would be more topics and site about the issues and how to care for the birds.
  15. oh i see - the breed would only know because they know the genetics of the bird. (eg ino masking spangle)
  16. Stormysky - this is normal for most mutations but some such as recessive pied don't get the ring to judge their age that way. Twisted - very possible. many here have pieds like that.
  17. how do you know a dominant pied is TCB?? do some of the flight feathers have colour?
  18. That bird (one behind the cockatiel) is in the background of this shot too, do you have two TCBs??
  19. Light Green Opaline Spangle hen Grey-green spangle cock
  20. Dad is a spangle (single) Mum is a DF spangle. to quote Nubby:
  21. in this thread : http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index.php?showtopic=9575
  22. what do you mean 'pale blue' does he have any markings? the male could easily be split for ino as it is a sex linked gene.
  23. Ino is a term for the gene that creates LUTINOand ALBINO Lutinos are all yellow birds Albino are all white birds.
  24. this is a baby with red eyes. it is a sign of an ino or other red eyed mutation (eg Fallow) but Ino is most common.
