I'm going to ask my question here, instead of making yet another thread about breeding questions If you have been here before you may have seen my post below (breeding Panic, I believe I called it) Any way I've been thinking and dreaming of breeding my two now, seeing as they love each other already and want to themselves it should be easy. My questions are: Is it okay to have them in a simple wire cage? My cage is 57cm long, 38 in height and 48cm deep. Is that big enough for them and a nest box? Freckle (my hen) is about 5 years is this too old to start? What sort of size does the box have to be? do any pet stores sell them or do you have to hunt about to find one? Can you make one up yourself? Do you have to have the tag band on bird if you are thinking of giving then to pet stores to sell? Arr I sure I can think up a million and one more questions I would love some answers you can PM me if you wish. one more Do problems happen often with laying eggs and such? okay two Does the size of the hen or **** have an affect of the size of the eggs? Freckle is smaller than Pie.
  2. okay well she had always been mad to chew stuff so i;m not to worried about that I got a cuttle fish for them but I haven't seem much marks on it. But if she does laid then at lest it's there for her. Ginny I was told also to take them and boil them and put them back. Is that okay? I have seen the plastic ones in stores so just in case I will get a patcket. I haven't seem then at it again and yesterday I keep them inside, becuase I read something about keeping in dark will make her worry and so not laid thinking it was the wrong time. But I have seen him mate feeding her again.
  3. okay thanks, I was really freaking out, but I think she is wanting to make a nest becuase she has always been mad at ripping the bark of the braches I give them and this morning Pie (my boy) has chewed tail feathers, which he has never had in the whole time they have been togther. I'm keeping an eye on them and hope to keep you updated.
  4. okay I have two bugies and of cause one is female the other male. They are in a simple bird cage (plently of room for both to fly about) with no nesting box or anything to make a nest with, but I caught the male jumping onto the girls back to breed!! and him trying to feed her (nothing was past, but the actions were clear) I need to know if they will breed in the cage they are in or not!!! I was lead to believe it was fine to have them together like that. Should I panic about my girl suddenly laying eggs one day? The female is about 3-5 year old but i'm not fully sure on the male only that when I got him about 5 mounts ago he was still to young to breed and was told if I did want to breed them to wait at least 8 months, but I believe he his about two years old. Is this normal, do they breed and laid eggs without a proper nesting site? they don't get out of the cage ever, for I have a cat which trys to attack them and I use to have a dog that wanted to kill them too (I did let the girl out before I got the new one).
