  1. Another member is having a biting problem too and they were using cotton gloves to protect their hands.... I would not recommend white cotton gloves... but i had an idea that might work for you too - get some white cotton gloves and dye them the same colour as your skin. That way your Sherbet can still get used to your hands and you will be protected from some of those nasty bites
  2. In Reading your post I'd say your little Nibbler is trying to flirt with you in an odd way. It's as if he doesn't know how to flirt properly. How is he with your other birds???
  3. I was laying in bed last night and i had an idea that could save your hands and not scare your Bluey. You could dye those cotton cloves a nice non threatening skin colour.... try and get the colour as close to your skin as possible. I can by fabric die from my local Big W.... craft shops and Spotlight would have it too..
  4. Don't feel bad... We all make mistakes at times. you are not a bad mummy. I'd say she will get over it in time... you may have to go back to basic taming and getting her used to your hand again. I hope she stops, a biting budgie can be very frustrating. Something i have done with my biting chicks is i stroke the sides of their beak with my thumb and index finder... sort of as if i was a mummy bird going to feed them... i don't know exactly what it does but they tend to warm to me more if i do it..??? It is also something i do as a part of my taming.... they often really like it and start to kiss rather than bite.... Good luck
  5. YAY!! how exciting to have a baby after such a looooooong wait! My guess is a pretty Sky blue cinnamon hen
  6. So pleased they being good to each other. they probably are brothers if they get along really well I bet you cant wait to get an aviary. I was SOOOO excited when i got mine
  7. Hello and Welcome I'd say you are right with the first moult and budgie adolescence hehehe. He should get over it in a few weeks I don't know about using a glove... it might be a bit scary for him and make him bite more. Being a boy he shouldn't really hurt when he bites (then again I have a high tolerance for pain hehhehe) Have you got any pictures???
  8. How could someone not like their gorgeous chatter -- definantly not a budgie person... Males have a lovely song, i find it peaceful and relaxing. I have about 15 males who ALL do it at the same time!!! It's lovely Your birds are in a tall dome cage right??? It is normal for them to want to be at the highest point of the cage. Do they ever fight over the top perch???
  9. I agree with Dmcminn Sky blue opaline cock Sky blue dominant pied cock Oh and they both look very handsome by the way
  10. There is nearly always someone on here it can get very busy at times.... (i am logged on here for most of the day ) Note that... Thanks, i wasn't sure

She sounds like she is doing well considering her ordeal . sounds like you are doing everything right and she should put weight on well - i agree with Kaz. keep her warm and quiet for a couple of days. she has got to be stressed and tired as well as hungry.

Hello and welcome :yellowhead: You are in the right place for expert advice. There are very talented budgie owners, breeders and even a few vets who are on here each day Well done for rescuing the little budgie. I hope s/he is okay. Budgies quite often have something wrong with them when they are rescued from the wild (mites etc). Do you have any pictures?? We will be able to tell you gender, approximate age and condition of your little bird. Well done again for your rescue
  20. What exciting news!!!! :yellowhead:
  21. very lovely TCB :yellowhead:
  22. Just an update... The hens started to protest against the mesh and wouldn't feed their crying babies :yellowhead: As soon as i removed the mesh the hens went running back to their babies Hmmmm time for plan B.... mist and a fan will have to do because I haven't found a water cooler yet
  23. loving all the pictures. your lacewings are so cute. I hope all is going well with your bird room building
  24. I know what you mean... the hens seem okay at the moment.... I could cut some shade cloth and pop it over the mesh to give some privacy but still allow ventilation????
  25. 9:30am and It's currently 35*C. Here are the mesh lids..... What do you think??? The hens are taking to it okay... I have a cheeky cockatiel who is sititng on the mesh peeking in at the babies hehehe - i tried to get a picture but he knows he's being naughty and flys away when i come out hehehe
