  1. Lovely names (i am not a fan of many petshops as you will see hehe) Petshops have a really bad reputation for having NO idea what they are talking about and for not telling the truth. Firstly - Budgies do not change gender! Secondly - I feel a baby budgie is under 12 weeks old, tops. And a budgie for taming should be under 8 weeks. Him Saying their "babys" are under 12 months is very vague As for seeing sick birds - oh i hope not , but very possible. Keep a VERY close eye on your new additions for atleast 30 days. Check for poopy bottom, their general appearence and their weight. The stress of a new home can bring out illness... Really looking forward to pictures if you can get some
  2. Congratulations!!! I am so excited for you I cant hardly wait to see some pics

What are you going to use to plug up your holes??? I have used steel wool - Just pack it into any small spaces they could get though. Mice really hate it, so they wont chew it or it or pull it out, and if you get the Stainless Steel wool it wont rust
  6. :D AAAAAWWWWWWwwwwwwww   Bella is ADORABLE!!! Congratulations

2 down!!! hopefully not too many to go
  8. Thats a really good point Norm. Perhaps it IS boredom. I haven't had any budgies pecked so far **Touches wood**, but i can imagine that having to raise 4 chicks on her own would alleviate any boredom/anxiety or any other behavioral issues.
  9. What ADORABLE photos!!!!!! :hap: It's Greycliffe!!!! I have him too....

Hi Jen, Welcome to you and your budgie You are in the right place to find all your answers. Is it possible for you to post a picture??? A picture will help us greatly with telling you the age, gender and condition your new budgie is in.

That is really cute. MY dog tries to be tough when he sees a cat, but if one comes anywhere near him he runs a mile. He loves to chase the little mice though... He could chase the mouse who would chase your cat who would chase my dog and they could all create a flurry of fur!!
  12. BOY BOY BOY :hap:
  13. I'm not a show breeder so I can't comment on his official "quality". however, I think he looks very nice :hap: I have been told my grey spangle in the picture i posted could do okay at a low level in a show....
  14. You got it! But Also they are SPANGLE markings on his wings. They can have many different types and in time you will get to know the differences between them... Take a look at the Budgie Mutations Varieties and genetics area You will find lots of helpful info in there
  15. Dark eyed clear looks the same as an albino but has black eyes Albino in the left - dark eyed clear on the right Grey spangle
  16. typing is very hard.. i am still trying to get my head around it all - there are so many out there. To me Charley is a Grey Spangle :hap:

Mice are so yucky and a real pain to get rid of I had lots of trouble with them at our old house - the cheeky buggers could squeeze though the tiniest gaps under the aviary. But, So far we are mouse free in our new place. There is nowhere for them to get into my aviary now :hap: **Touches Wood** Good luck getting rid of them - perhaps a hungry cat could help hehehe
  18. Is that the same bird??? WOW what a transformation!! He looks stunning now :hap:
  19. adorable and he is so handsome!!! :hap:
  20. Thanks Libby, that is really helpful Great photos, and i can clearly see the difference compaired to the male
  21. So... are you offering to supply the eggs??? ... I'll bring the toasties, Kaz... Champagne??? Liv... Fruit platter??? Anything else we need???Hmmmm... I think you have it covered - where will we meet and who will buy my air ticket (Laughing out loud) By the way Maesie, you have psycic powers (i love fruit platters hehehe) :hap: ... My smartness and psycic powers are overwhelming at times :hap: mmm, I'm thinking in the middle of Aus somewhere (in between WA/VIC/SA/NSW) and considering you will have the least to travel, the three of us may need some coinage from YOU for our travels!!! (Laughing out loud), (Laughing out loud), (Laughing out loud) :hap: :hap: :hap: You could earn lots of money with those abilities hahahhaa Well then if i have to pay for YOU, then i need hundreds of eggs so i can bake lots of cakes and start selling them in stalls to raise money for us all to stay in the magical underground town of Cooper Pedy. We can buy some pretty opals while we enjoy our champaign breakfast of budgie egg omelets, fruit platter and PRAWNS!! :hap: ... there's an idea. I'll start working the streets with my 'abilities' (wink, wink, nudge, nudge, say no more)... Then I can pay for us ALL to travel to Copper Pedy. With the left over money I'll get those prawns you're after. As to the opals, I love it! We'll probably need to 'dig' for them after all the food we'll be eating!!! I've heard budgie eggs are fattening... (Laughing out loud)... :hap: :hap: Sounds PERFECT!! Let me know when you have the funds ready :hap:
