It Is Soooooo Hot!
Thats a good idea too... thanks. I didn't breed in december and January because it was too hot. We had a lovely February, with perfect weather, so i let them have one more round before the long winter break. No one could predict this nasty (record breaking) March heat wave. I got many male budgies last year..... hope i get some females from this hot weather I am lucky enough to be at home like Kaz. The aviary is just out side my back door and i can watch what is happening with my birds as much as i watch my children. Also, my A/C is refrigerated so i cant blow the air out my back door onto my aviary like i could with an evaprotive system

It Is Soooooo Hot!
It is REALLY HOT here! We have had days of between 38*C and 42*C for over 2 weeks now and there is atleast another week of this weather to go... :  My poor birds are sweltering in the heat. They are shaded and not in any direct sun. I mist them with the hose (shhh - water restrictions) but within 10 mins it's dry and they are all hot again. The newly hatched chicks are the ones i worry about the most. When i open the boxs i can feel the heat rush out and they are all panting vigerously What can i do to provide some relief???

Big Grey And His Tiny Hen....
They are plum.....Red eyes are a lot brighter red. So i guess that means that the chick will be Cinnamon or recessive then - mum is recessive I have had cinnamon chicks before, but dont remember seeing this colour of eye before - very cool Whatching chicks grow is like unrapping a birthday present REALLLLLLY slowly - "OOO, OOO, OOO what will it be!!!!????!!!!" hehehe

Big Grey And His Tiny Hen....
Look!! There is a 3rd baby!!!! It hatched this morning!!!!! Horray!!!!! Sorry it's a bit fuzzy i used the macro setting but not the flash ( i can't bring myself to use the flash on my birds) I have never had an age gap of over a week between chicks before... will it be okay?? do i need to give the chick special attention to ensure it gets fed etc???? Oh and the second oldest chick has just opened its eyes - they are RED!!! What dose that mean???? Here is a picture Might i add... I have never had a chick with red eyes before.... so perhaps this is BG's chick....???? the other 2 possible dads have never had any babies with red eyes
