  1. Very sad............know that you did all you could and more than most people would do. I have my most special budgie planted in a large plantpot with a beautiful peach tree on top of her. We are in the middle of moving and she will come to the new house that way
  2. I think when RIPBudgies saw you were in Perth she assumed as she would that you were in the same Perth Western Australia we live in. Easy mistake to make if you dont check a persons actual profile info. There is also a Perth in Tasmania.
  3. Perth Scotland not Perth Western Australia
  4. Mirrors do their head in. It makes them think the reflection is another budgie. Males will "feed" this other budgie they see in the mirror most budgies "protect" their friend in the mirror. Best they dont have mirrors. Give us a close up photo of her eyes ........a nice clear macro shot
  5. Either of those cages will be fine for 1-3 budgies in the smaller one and 1-4 in the larger one
  6. Smaller I think due to council. House takes up 358 sq metres of the block. Add 54 sq m for the garage and then we sneak the aviaries into remaining spots.
  7. Not bigger .......I dont think I will be allowed.
  8. Got this "room" for you this morning Dave ( and FREE ) Just needs reassembling now
  9. I am sorry you are learning the hard way Georgie just like a lot of us did before you. You really need to read this http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index.php?showtopic=28294&hl=
  10. Moving is the pits We are moving over a few weeks due to my husband not being able to get time off work. So far we have done three 3 tonne truckloads down to Collie. Most of our furniture ( and additional furniture for the bigger house ) has gone, most household stuff. What little is left in the house makes me feel like we are camping out. Hardest thing to move will be my leadlight workshop stuff ( glass and tools ) and moving all the birds. We cant move all the birds until we have some temporary aviaries down there to move them to. What a let down, having to go from my lovely spacious aviaries and birdroom to a hodge podge of cr*ppy little aviaries all joined up to temporarily house the birds. Got a free aviary yesterday off GUMTREE....around 3.5m by 1.8m and we were there this morning disassembling it. I have another aviary thats 4m by 2m. My birds are currently in a 6m by 4m space.
  11. At this point in time it would be handy for you to know how to crop feed so you could supplement her feeding some. Keep her butt clean and let us know how she is doing.

Once you have chicks you should be checking nestboxes twice a day http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index.php?showtopic=13358
  13. Great job on the rescue !! Your budgie isnt wild. SHE ( not HE ) is a blue spangle.
  14. Love, love, love the feathery "trousers" on your birds
  15. Spraying AIL ( avian insecticidal liquidator ) around also kills insects and is safe for birds.
  16. your other budgie is NOT a clearwing
  17. We have heaps of topics on this already on the forum. try using the search function and you will get a lot of info

If you have been sold a male budgie with brown on its cere it should have been FREE not sold and you most likely will not get chicks from him/ On the other hand females who arent in breeding condition have the brown flaky part of their cere peels off revealing white blue underneath. If you have been sold a definite male with brown cere .................never ever go back to that breeder again as he has sold you a DUD and he knows it
  19. Filler seeds arent a type of seed. Its the wording used to describe any seed in a blend that birds wont or don t usually eat. Cheapie supermarket seed often has wheat in it...........cheap and takes up space and weight in a bag..........not for budgies as a rule.
  20. When fostering eggs that are close to hatching you must foster to another nest where eggs are also due to hatch. A hen that is sitting. Preferably a nest where you will more than likely recognise the chicks when they feather up ( for instance blue chicks into a green nest etc )
  21. I also use Golden Cob seed. 100kgs per month
  22. Bells are shiny and reflective. Most bells I see are shiny and budgies become attached to any reflections they see of "other budgies" in a bell or mirror
  23. Indoors is where I use my bug zapper They plug in to a power point, have a lead, and hang by anything that will hold the ring they hang by ( no mods to rented property ) My budgies have got out and been sitting on the bug zapper and none have died. Rethink ??
