  1. Hi Den Budgie one is a boy and budgie 2 is a girl
  2. Dusty passed away today. Was looking well and all signs good. Only thing I noticed about DUSTY was rapid breathing most of the time. no respiratory issues evident at all, just seemed to freak out a bit when handled....rapid heart rates and breathing. RIP dusty.........aged 22 weeks.
  3. She doesnt mind a cuddle once you have caught her but she runs away when she sees you coming.
  4. Give her time to settle in. You may be looking at a couple of months. Brown cere will peel away and then you wait for light brown.
  5. Dont put the hen down to breed just yet. She is sat the stage where the brown is about to peel off and reveal the white blue of a hen not in breeding condition and she is also showing signs of moulting. How old is she ............do you know ? He is a skyblue normal and she seems to be a grey greywing. Its best to give new birds time to settle in before putting them straight down to breed.
  6. You have the width of cere look sewn up mate .............well done
  7. I love the way your nestboxes have little front porches or verandah areas where they can land before going through the nestbox hole
  8. Forum member Libby came over the other day and saw Dusty. Lib asked if Dusty felt light in bodyweight. We lifted her up and checked her for bodyweight and she is every bit as heavy as any full sized show budgie I have right now, so thats a good sign so far.
  9. Bobbie is a female A reason you may have thought Bobby to be a boy is..........too many people assume any blue on a cere is male. BUT any blue on a cere with white is a female who is young or not in breeding condition. This confuses a lot of people and petshop staff and some novice breeders get this wrong all the time. A very experienced show breeder once gave me a young budgies he said was male. I said NO, its a hen. He said we will see and was convinced it was a male. 6 months later he asked me how the young cock was going. I said she is doing fine and sent him photos to show her with her now brown cere The presence of blue on a cere confuses so many.

Welcome Love your forum name. Look forward to seeing pictures of bobby.
  11. Your birds look GREAT !!!
  12. A lot of the bird stores sell them. The bird places that sell birds as they often import them and have the second hand boxes for sale. Budgie clubs and budgie club members often have some or know where to get them. You only need a box the size of a tissue box with an end you can screw shut and a small mesh viewing window ( not to floor level ). If you have a bunnings store near you, look in their craft aisle, buy an mdf wooden tissue box and the all you do is add a closing door and mesh the part tissues pull out of and you have an easy to make travel box. Extra materials will be a piece of ply and some one inch or less square pine, a few screws. You can also make an easy travel box by buying a budgie nestbox and modifying it. Remember no perches........they travel best on the floor. No seed. No water. The smaller the space the easier and safer they travel. Less window area means darker and they are quieter in that kind of box.
  13. The one on the left seems to have plum eyes.
  14. Welcome to our forum
  15. Male. White only matters if its overall white on the cere.
  16. Based on member comments relating to your post Matt, noone was too impressed with what you had to say and NO you werent reserved at all ........sorry.
  17. Also so be considered is how much show breeders look after their flocks on a medical basis. Doxy for psittacosis is put through the flock a couple of times a year, Ronivet or similar for Canker, etc. These birds are looked after more than the average pet budgie..............preventative medications-wise that is.
  18. Only cage fronts are the access for the birds................no sides of cages etc. A lot of show breeders keep their birds that go to shows in seperate cages ( quarantine ) and treat in whatever way they see fit before releasing them back with the others. Also noone takes obviously ill birds and any that would appear to be "off "in any way would be taken out of the show.
  19. Hi, I am also in Perth and I know people you can trust to get your budgie from. I can give you contact details. There are a couple of your local pet stores you should avoid .....so I can tell you those too behind scenes in messages. We use the PM system here for private messages.
  20. I agree with Harry. Can you post a photo of the cage they are in ?
  21. Hi!

Hi and welcome Some advice. Throw away the eggs. You dont need to wait till she decides they are infertile. And since she laid them over a few weeks instead of the 9-10 days it should have taken it seems irregular anyway. To There are no jobs raising show budgies. Its something you do for yourself if you have an interest in them and a good aviary and place to keep them and breed them. We dont know your age
  22. What colour eyes ? Black or plum ?
