  1. Some of these things begin as a blocked feather follicle and become a feather cyst. Picture will help.
  2. I must have missed this......... Feather dusters dont live long enough for anyone to try and breed them.
  3. No advice should be given in these instances without first knowing what size area they will be in and if you intend to breed in these same areas. Space and possession of that space.....territorial issues and the personality of the birds.
  4. I agree with Dean. You can tell right from the nestbox. There are so9me that screach and burrow desperately trying to get away from you when you nestcheck and there are some that are automatically drawn to people. Two week olds that walk towards you and preen and nibble at your fingertips. They sit and stare at you with no fear and just wait for that special touch.
  5. His father makes him split opaline.
  6. Check under the feet for signs of sores.
  7. Two babies have gone to be handraised by an experienced handraiser who does this for a small home industry and her own pleasure. She wanted a blue princess off us for herself so she got two and I am handraising the other two Ken is keeping. The white one ken calls ANGEL and the blue one I call STRETCH ( Stretch because its so big and tall and lanky ) . These are Velchro's babies. The white one was a nice surprise.....its worth a thousand dollars to sell but we are keeping her. Sunnie........its easier to feed and handraise parrots than it is to feed and handraise budgies I think anyway. m Here they are at dinner time. click for video click for video
  8. You dont use sandpaper perches do you ?
  9. Yeah But I guess if he wasnt a FD he would look like a pet type budgie
  10. You have a whole pile of opaline hens in that batch
  11. Dusty was restless so I gave him some time in a bigger cage this morning. He seemed to enjoy it and was calling out to the other birds, tried climbing up the ladder, and rediscovered his little icecream tub shelter. Video Part one click on photo Part two click on photo and photos
  12. Looks great !!!
  13. I will try and get some photos of them over the next couple of days
  14. Lovely feather on these babies Splat and long masks too
  15. I use teabag water for eye issues. She has probably got food in it as Splat says. Leave the egg alone. As you had a broken one and one isnt fertile the one left may hatch yet. If its dead in shell the outside of the eggshell get staining and dark. I wouldnt go putting it in water
  16. Dusty was put in a larger cage yesterday as he was showing signs of wanting to try and perch. Checked today and found he wasnt eating. Deduction ..........either new distraction or larger cage at fault.......more exercise uses up calories needed for feather growth. Put him back in show cage with seed underfoot for today..........and full crop again. My thoughts are reduce opportunity for exercise which burns calories..........means the food keeps both feather and body going. So far so good.
  17. Cere colour for young females is a lot of white. Cere colour for young males is bright pink to pinky purple.
  18. Lovely photos Dave. Seeing some really nice chicks there
  19. Dean Dean those babies are gorgeous but I am very confused. You are saying they are hens but their cere colour is male ?
  20. Show me where she is being kept. Fat can be amount of space and exercise and whether or not they get enough flying where they are.
  21. We look at the cere. Thats all you need to sex a budgie. Why dont you want another male ??? Males with other males make the very best companions...better than any other combination
  22. If you have read about brown ceres and you are worried.............then the photo you have just shown is nothing to worry about as it isnt brown like the other cases
  23. Looks like a boy in these photos
  24. I am sure, since its a weekend, that we will be getting photos soon
