Well, if its chipboard you dont want to go going too mad with water as chipboard is like a sponge.- Fussy Budgies
Never ever remove their normal diet and replace with something new and strange. Put back their seeds immediately or you will have sick and starving budgies Not surprised.....you virtually stole away their real food and gave them something strange. If you want them to try something new you add it not remove their seeds so they starve and then try the guinea pig food !You add to their diet not replace it with new things. add extras, dont make drastic changes. It is so much the wrong thing you have done you are jeopardising your birds health. they are starving.....budgies cant go long without seed before they get sick and die. You have to or you will kill them with the way you are doing it right now. cruise around this forum.........we have sh*tloads of great info on this. your stubbornness will assist them to an early grave. I think your problem is more about lack of exercise and flying space than it is about seed. And why spinach just twice a week. Why not various vegies daily ? Please check out our FAQ section on diet. Never ever make sudden changes or remove their basic diet from them or they will starve, get sick and die. It can also force a moult. Never change it around on a daily basis. keep the seed but add the vegies. Please advise how many budgies in what size cage and show photos as fat budgies can be because of lack of exercise or a cage too crammed to fly in. I recall you began here on BBC with dying budgies........too many crammed into wrong size cages for the numbers and the cages were out in the middle of the yard allowing weather in. Even when you still had sick budgies you were buying more. I know things can have changed. Please advise the housing and numbers of your budgies now. http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index.php?app=forums&module=forums§ion=findpost&pid=346876 Like I said it isnt just about food but lack of exercise. Someone I know had 37 budgies crammed into a cage 4ft high by 2ft by 2ft and you should have seen how fat they were !! and then she wondered why they were dying too. Stress, overcrowding etc. I went around and caught them up and transferred them to an outside aviary she had but didnt want to put them in. The cage she had all her budgies in were inside and had been inside for 2 years. Then when she put them down to breed wondered why she had chicks with rickets ( lack of clalcium ) and females going down with eggbinding. So......how many do you have now and in what cages ?- Cleaning A Cage
I agree with the use of vinegar.- My Feather Dusters.........dusty And Jumbo
I feel sure it affect many other things in a feather duster and all may contribute to early death as well. I notice with mine it breathes faster. Has a heart rate that seems faster and you can feel the vibration in the chest area either from that or the breathing. It has quick jerky movements. It reacts strongly to surprise noises. I think they may well also be prone to digestive upsets. Vocal chords.........I cant tell you. Mine sounds like a two tone whistle. Mine is not nasty and doesnt vocalise much. likes a cuddle, settles into your chest when being held as if it likes being there and being held. There may well be a whole range of additional conditions a feather duster has that hasnt been fully explored by anyone yet.- G & G 2010/2011 Breeding Season
You are gonna have some brilliant budgies once these guys grow on some. Noticing length of mask and width across the cere. You must be real happy with these guys- My Feather Dusters.........dusty And Jumbo
NO. I just did what I do for any newly fledged budgie that hasnt started eating well enough yet. This budgie is now eating so I dont have to.- Wattle Flights 2010 Breeding Journal
Fertile eggs go pearly white. Unfertile eggs look pale peachy coloured. Correct egg guesswork Jimmy- My Feather Dusters.........dusty And Jumbo
Dusty seems to be a female from what we can tell today.........RIPBudgies and I. The cere has a good bit of white on it. Had a full crop of seed tonight.- Wattle Flights 2010 Breeding Journal

Yes but theres no spangle on the pictured bird.- My Feather Dusters.........dusty And Jumbo
Feather growth compared to food intake may be winning already. Wasnt eating last night so I crop fed, and he was sulking this morning and not feeding. I put him in a show cage for a little while in the sun with seed in the bottom of the cage and he has started eating. I will keep him in a smaller space if it helps.- Does This Chick Need To Be Euthanased?
Yes.- Sick Budgie
No need for sulpha meds if he is on coccivet which he should be still on. Looking at the cere, he has other issues going on as well. You seem to be doing all you can. Coccivet should be for more just just a "while" .........how long did you use it ? Did you totally scrub out the aviary and cocci comes in cycles and will repeat if the aviary isnt scrubbed top to toe.- These Birds Produced .....

I disagree with the cinnamon verdict. I see opaline dom pied greywing...........no brown there. Colour is darker than sky so I say cobalt. Not violet not sky.- Our Other Birds
That canary chick was virtually dead when I found it in the aviary.....if I hadnt gone in there and seen it laying on its side on the ground freezing cold it would be dead today. Warmth is key- Our Other Birds
The little canary chick is doing well- Shed Aviary
I do the 20 seconds to go sniper bid too Maddy. Good luck- Shed Aviary
At $211.50 and over 3 days to go- Our Other Birds
The canary in my cleavage is doing much better. As baby birds wont poop in their own nest............a short while ago it got real restless and was moving all around in my cleavage area. I peered in just in time to see him back his butt out of his cosy tissue nest to poop on my "****" He took his next feed well and is sleeping. Dilemna at some point I have to put him in a warm place for the night. The other canaries dont need extra warmth. So I will have to create a place with a warm lamp for this little one, and hope I see him alive in the morning- My Feather Dusters.........dusty And Jumbo
I put a large flat seed dish in the cage with the feather duster and his siblings and Dad. I am under the impression these FD's need to virtually sit in their dinner dish to keep eating. Well, this is one FD that must have heard that theory too - New, and Need Advice
