Changes In Beak And Feet
Dont panic. They arent as virulent as people seem to think. If you have ivermectin spot on you may as well give them all a spot anyway. Scalyface mites arent known for living anywhere but within their host. So scrubbing a cage mentally doesnt really help at all. If it was red mites then yes you would have to.

What Variety?
I agree with Sunnie too

Very nice birds Especially the yf's.

Violet Spangle Female?
This doesnt mean much. Dads try this as a dominance thing sometimes and sex of the baby at that time is irrelevant.

New To This Sort Of, Need A Little Advice...
Advice you have been given is correct, and NEVER listen to pet store staff. Do you have a better photo of the birds please............the other one was very grainy and both seemed to have brown ceres. Not only that but you have to be certain the ages are over 12 months, and the green one has clipped wings. I assume you can see better than we can what colour cere it has ? Because it looks brown in that bad photo. BUT if it was a male you were expecting to breed with, he cannot with clipped wings.

Breeding Help
Its the dads that are the primary feeders of babies from two weeks of age. So if you dont want a third clutch and dad is definitely an active feeder of the babies, remove the mother to somewhere the dad cant hear or see her ( when chicks are three weeks old ) and he will continue the final raising of the chicks. Once they have fledged remove the nestbox.

If You Could........would You ?
Settlement is on the 17th Dec and we will move some stuff over that weekend, and again over Christmas. We are doing it slowly over 3-4 weeks as Ken still has to work and me likewise. We also have to get somewhere ready for the birds to go once we get them there.

Budgie Eggs
Hi Vanessa you have hit the nail on the head with her presenting herself for mating. 13 eggs is a lot Make sure she has plenty of extra calcium ( dont rely on cuttlebone to solve that alone ). Problem ? Yes, as with some older females they can become chronic egglayers and just keep going. There is an injection a vet can give for that. PS love the choice of name

My Feather Dusters.........dusty And Jumbo
He is a SHE Oh oops She is beautiful. I love the updates Dont worry Rach.............this baby had me going for awhile. One of those hard to tell ambiguous ceres. Too much white on the cere for it not to be female

Newbie With Some Issues
You dont move any breeding pairs in the middle of eggs etc. Best is to remove the spare budgies in the aviary to another place.

Newbie With Some Issues
Nestboxes in most cases force them to breed. There should be no nestboxes anywhere a budgie is thats under 12 months. Something important to learn. Once you have fledged babies in the aviary there must be removal of the nestbox too or they too will try and breed because of the nestbox. Colony breeding is budgies breeding with multiple others and nestboxes in an aviary. Safest way is to keep the aviary for their fun, holiday place to be and remove pairs to breed in cages separately. Great idea to enhance your sons senses by having the birds for him to hear and experience and touch. Bear in mind that this can turn to heartache when colony breeding can suddenly go pear shaped and gorgeous babies in nestboxes can be attacked by another female *** bent on taking over a box for herself. She will slaughter chicks in a box to clean it out and use it for herself. Another good reason to have breeding pairs on their own and safer. ...............good to have you here.

Green Tail?
A ten month old male can breed but may not support his hen in all ways necessary. Some ten month olds do well and others dont. Please clarify what you are saying

If You Could........would You ?
I did this two months ago, I moved from Melbourne to rural Victoria (Charlton), and I love it. My house is 115 years old, full of character and history, and we are not allowed to make changes to the front of the house or cut down a tree in the front yard as it was the first ornamental tree planted in Charlton. You are going to love it Kaz, and your new house is gorgeous and FULL of character, charm and history. Like you, I also moved a mammoth amount of stuff 3.5 hours away, lots of back and forth drives was exhausting, and it took two weeks to fully move. Go for it girl! Best of luck for a nice smooth move. Matt Thanks heaps Matt. Would love to see your house too. Have you looked on the renovate forum ? http://www.renovateforum.com heaps of good info there

If You Could........would You ?
Thanks Amy I appreciate it But best we go with what we can do for ourselves......putting up and pulling down an aviary being a proverbial pain in the a$$ so dont want to do it more times than we have to. PS Amy .........have you had your baby yet ???? Settlement date is the 17th December so we will be offline internet wise over the Christmas period from the 17th dec. Moving will be a HUGE task and we will do it over tow or three weeks as the timing is cr*p. Not only do we have mountains of stuff to shift but we also bought old antique style furniture for the new house and we have birds to move as well and my leadlight workshop and hundreds of sheets of glass. Amidst all this is my youngest daughters wedding, last leadlight jobs to complete and Christmas.

Hen Has Refused To Feed Her Chicks Every Time Shes Been Breed
Canaries are very different to budgies. I breed canaries as well as budgies. the only time we get baby canaries not fed is 1. parents too young 2. Father not feeding babies ( mum sits and warms and the dad feeds them in most cases ). 3. stinking hot weather and they abandon the nest. 4. ill health of either or both parents.........a bird will not care for babies if they arent well. If this is about canaries, please be advised as we are a budgie forum we do not have to answer other bird questions and in most cases these questions get deleted. BUT since I have breeding canaries I can answer you in this case.

My Flock And Babies
I dont know for certain but as albino is a recessive gene and yellowface is a dominant gene I am guessing thats why. And YES you get YF DF spangles........we have photos of them in our mutations section My yellowface double factor spangle cock
