  3. they are both blue birds, one being yellowface. You should get some yellowface as well as blue normals and anything else the parents are hiding like opaline or cinnamon or recessive pied. I agree with the violet
  4. Known as yellowface cobalt. Blue cock is split recessive pied most likely too.
  5. Will wait for better photos then
  6. If its a male the cere wont change colour. Even if the cere changes and indicates female it still doesnt mean old enough to breed.
  7. Pain eh JP ? Frustration plus. You arent wasting our time....we will wait till the pictures get better...dont worry As stated before chances are high you have a male not female. And as stated before you shouldnt be trying to breed the birds that you have no clue about their sex or age. No budgies under the age of 12 months should live anywhere there are nestboxes.
  8. upload your photos from your computer into photobucket in the size of 480 by 640 and then post the links
  9. Unless you post a clearer larger photo so we can sex your budgie it may well be because you think its a female and its a male. Please repost larger clearer photos
  10. you wont get any lutinos Lutino breeding tables http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r145/kazzart/budgies/breeding6.jpg spangle is a dominant gene green is dominant. A lutino is in effect a green bird. Lutinos hide their other mutations that they carry. you are in for some surprises please post all your photos again for all your topics in the larger allowed size of 480 by 640
  11. Bigger clearer photos please. We allow 480 by 640 here If you dont know this birds exact age or sex then why have you put it down to breed ? pink feet is normal for albinos
  12. Post larger photos please ....we ALLOW 480 BY 640 HERE Your male is a spangle.
  13. INOS ( lutino and albino ) is a sex linked gene so you need to say what sex the ino is. You also need to post a photo of your blue budgie so we can identify its mutation. An all yellow budgie is not always a lutino. If it has black eyes it may be a df spangle. Same with an all white budgie. They need to have red eyes to be an ino. In my signature under my post is a link on how to post pictures
  14. Male albinos and lutinos have a pink cere their whole life. how old is it and how about you post a picture so we can help you better.
  15. Get the age right............12 months to 4 years. No underaged budgies to be in an area where there are nestboxes. Get the condition right.......full breeding condition ceres the right colours......medium brown cere for female and bright cobalt blue for most males. Make sure they arent moulting. Make sure you have worked out the sexes correctly Seasons......if too hot they wont breed in most cases. The birds know what bad weather is coming and they wont go to nest if they anticipate a bad season. Colony breeding ( the worst way to breed budgies ) can affect birds claiming a nestbox and keeping it as others will fight to prevent that. Look for signs of blood on nestbox perches. Rodents in aviary and through nestboxes will stop breeding. Health of birds is vital. they must be in peak condition. If not they wont breed and wont breed successfully.
  16. Part of socialisation in an aviary is budgie kissing, feeding and preening each other. this is not gender specific. Males to males, females to females and female to males and male to female. Just part of what they do. Re Blue ceres,,,,females not in breeding condition have a white blue cere.

  18. Possible scalyface mites. Show a picture if you can for a proper diagnosis

  22. **KAZ** replied to jemappelle's topic in New to BBC
Hi and welcome they dont need one
  23. Well done !!!!!!!!!
  24. Two avian vets I am aware of but I have also been told of an excellent vet .....Swan Valley Vets as well ( yet to experience that ). I believe you have hit the nail on the head re the poisoning and that branch........reinforces the adage ......"if in doubt do nought" as far as putting branches in an aviary if you arent absolutely sure its safe. Just ought to mention too.........what a good friend you have been in this case
