    Hi and welcome
  2. He is the number one feeder of the babies at the age they are now. This is the way with the dads from the babies being two weeks onwards. If she is sitting in their now...........expect an egg. As they dont sit in there once the chicks are this age. She is beginning another clutch. If the dad is feeding them well...................remove her and put her in a cage out of hearing of the Dad and leave him to finish the raising of the babies.
  3. If its really really hot its best not to breed then. Unless you have a cool place where your birds breed. Some of us have airconditioned breeding rooms. Hot nestboxes and hot baby budgies can get all kinds of health issues, one being french moult. But if its isnt too hot then you can drill 10mm holes up higher on a nestbox or use a spare piece of aviary mesh as the door during the day and replace the normal door for the nighttime.
  4. Violet, can you post a picture of your birds
  5. Use a spare piece of wire mesh or attach a piece of wood over the hole when not in use.

Looking real sharp in that nice suit Osman. Good to see you
  7. If she is intending to tame her and bond with her, getting her a friend is the worst thing to do. Sorry..........I have to agree with Dave here.
  8. The cere is unrelated..........its what happens when going out of breeding condition. The blackening of the wing sounds weird like a loss of blood supply to an area and what happens with gangrene or a bleed under the skin. Did the vet check for broken bones in that area ? Is the wing being used or is is dropped ? Photos needed. PS one box in an aviary of four isnt a good idea. Also if you dont know their ages there should be no under aged budgies ( under 12 months ) in any aviary where there are nestboxes, and any females over four years should be stopped from breeding. Nestboxes can force breed budgies no matter what their age.
  9. This is where we can post any quoted bad info on the internet about budgies and discuss. There's an awful lot of bad info out there. I see it all the time. Supposed experts who put websites out there with really bad info and errors. Go for it. Find some and post here and we can discuss or we can message them for changes to their info. http://budgieisland.zoomshare.com/2.html http://www.lisashea.com Your turn
  10. I agree with Harry. You dont need a sealant. If the finish of the concrete is smooth all you need is a scraper and a broom or vacuum.
  11. loved the narrative and it made me laugh
  12. Higher if you can manage it. Wall height at 2.4 and gable at 2.7 is better as the higher the roof the cooler the aviary.
  13. I like what you have done with the cage you wont be able to make too many great changes depending on how long Billie is with you, and would the owner continue those changes once you have made them ?
  14. Noticing a few of your female budgies are young so check back with us for each budgie to confirm sex and age before you start thinking of breeding. Cere colour is no indicator of old enough to breed PS Love the way you have thought about a safety door as well Smokey is a grey opaline spangle Basil is a light green spangle Cheeky is a grey green cinnamon normal Aussie is a lt green opaline dominant pied
  15. If parents are in optimum health you wont need to hand rear. Parent raised is best. Read my post in your first time breeding topic. You are getting ahead of yourself.
  16. If the female is 6 months to a year and has already had heaps of babies then someone has bred her too young. If you are only just getting her then the first thing you do is settle her in for a few months not put her straight in a breeding cage. If she has been bred a lot and had lots of babies she may well need a good 6 months rest. No mention of when her last lot of babies was ? No mention of is she is in breeding condition ? If she has had lots of babies then she will need time to make sure her calcium levels and health is in prime condition not straight down to breed after the stress of moving, new home, new food, new friends. You dont know her age but you are guessing?? No breeding under 12 months of age and with hens try and stop them at around 4 years unless you want huge vets fees for eggbinding and prolapse. QUARANTINE...........essential in a seperate cage in a seperate room and seperate airspace for at least 30 days. You havent quite got a hold of how things are done yet so there's LOTS you havent thought of
  17. Lovely aviary and a very nice selection of budgies.
  18. **KAZ** replied to Cory's topic in Breeding Tips
Osman you have to open a photobucket account ( its free ) and then you post the IMG link to this forum read this http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/faqs/index.php?action=artikel&cat=1&id=243&artlang=en&highlight=posting%20pictures
  19. Not necessarily. First they have to be the right age. Secondly they have to be in condition.
  20. Yes she is female
  21. **KAZ** replied to stace's topic in Food And Nutrition
Trill may have iodine in it........check the ingredients and additives. Otherwise you can get aqueous iodine from the chemist ( also known as Lugolls iodine ) and you put around 7 drops per litre of water.
  22. Read over your answers again as Dave and Generic Blue have already done that.
  23. Contact your local budgerigar club.
  24. There are no budgie removalists. There is Australia Air Express that will transport pets by air and you drop them off and collect them the other end. There is Jetpets and a couple of others that do the same thing. Best thing you can do is organise your small wooden air travel box and either drop him off at the airport Aust Air Express before you leave and arrange he is collected at the other end....or you leave before him and arrange someone to drop him off to AAE allowing enough time that when you arrive you also collect him. There is no facilities for birds to be cared for at their destination and they remain in the box with no seed and water. Box for one budgie is a tissue sized box, no perches, a small mesh window, and screwed shut. Dark and small as they travel better that way. Costs ? around $51 for travel and around $15-$25 for a box. AAE does not supply or sell boxes. Try Jetpets http://www.jetpets.com.au/jetpets_article.php?article=domestic they state that they board as well
