Summer Breeding Heat And Ventilation In Nests
Depends on the design of your nestbox. If you cut a section that replicates the nestbox door and use it in the same way should work.

Some Friendly Breeding Advice Wanted :)
Dont forget to always tap gently on the side of the nestbox before opening the lid so she knows you are about to check.

Summer Breeding Heat And Ventilation In Nests
I do something similar using old aviary mesh as replacement nestbox sliding doors during the day but replace the other nestbox doors for the night time.

If You Could........would You ?
I know you would THANKS I have worked out the best temporary way to sort out the flooring in the aviary is to use mouse mesh underneath and a layer of quality sand on the floor. Its achievable. We can do other things later on.

2 New Baby Budgies
You have made your life difficult for training your new budgies already since you bought two at the same time. They flock together, which in essence, means they will prefer each others company over yours any day of the week. If you want tame budgies its always best to buy one at a time and train it first before buying another. Then when you buy a second budgie further down the track you keep it in a seperate cage and train it well before you add it to a cage with another budgie. Even then they will prefer each others company to yours. PS like the names you chose are you sure of the sexes ?

If You Could........would You ?
Pavers or cement slabs are the way to go, but we also have to dig quite a bit of soil first to get it level. Devoting time to this is hard when its a 5 hr return trip each day and all we can do so far is weekends.......still moving furniture and effects as well. We will work something out this weekend I guess or erect the second aviary. We are tired from all the packing and moving and our energy levels are down the gurgler

If You Could........would You ?
We arent still fully moved into the new house. We were to have had paid help to erect the aviaries down there but that deal has fallen through So as well as having to move most weekends we now have to do the aviaries ourselves before we can take the birds down. Other MAJOR move will involve my leadlight workshop materials and tools and benches/cupboards etc. I bought a 3m by 2.2m aviary with safety door on Saturday. It had a welded frame and was very well made. I took the angle grinder and cut the aviary in half lengthwise, we put it on the trailer and took it 2 and a half hours away to the new house. I bought a length of box tubing slightly less than the box tubing the aviary was welded out of, cut in into short lengths around 100mm, inserted each piece into a section of box tube I had cut through, screwed it in with metal tech screws and rejoined the aviary in this way. We then added the roof and the back wall sheeting, Aviary is back together but so far isnt level on the ground, nor have we worked out what we are doing with the floor of the aviary. Time isnt on our side so we havent time to do a concrete floor in this case. I may have to get this floor section level and then put concrete slabs or brick paving inside for flooring. Suggestions welcome. PS more aviaries to erect as well before I can transport the birds. Moving stuff is on hold till we can get the aviaries up and running. Photos taken before we added the sheeting to back wall and I have yet to rejoin the seperated aviary wire at the front. The guy we bought the aviary off had cut wooden blocks that sit on top of the frame and are screwed down with the roofing screws into the frame, thus no gaps for rodents ............very well thought out I reckon

Some Friendly Breeding Advice Wanted :)
While hens are egglaying you need to check the hen daily to be sure she doesnt become eggbound. Check the nest every two days as eggs are due. Once chicks arrive you check the nests morning and night.

Green Tail?
Petshops wont trust you to hold the bird in case it escaped. They would hold the bird and you could feel it.

My All Budgies Moulting
Maesie is right. You never breed with moulting budgies
-
Green Tail?
You can, however, ask what initials and code is on the legring. Tell them you need to check to see if the bird is related to yours.
