  1. NO NOT A RAINBOW GRRRRRRRRRR LOOK IN YOUR OWN LINK ITS GOT RAINBOW IN THEIR ; :} woops sorry kaz lol i didnt mean tht LOK IN OUR MUTATION SECTION UNDER RAINBOW BUDGIES :} What do you mean, I just said that I THOUGHT he might be rainbow. No way on earth is that budgie a rainbow. If you werent sure you should not have said it. A rainbow is a NOT mish-mash of colours and striping mutations.
  2. Both parents need recovery time from breeding before going back into the aviary. Two weeks should be long enough. Seperate not together. If the babies are eating for themselves he doesnt have to be with them. Babies should stay in a kindie cage for a few weeks before going into the aviary as well.
  3. Handsome boy and fantastic lawn he is standing on
  4. Check the FAQ section and look for an article called CARE OF BABY BUDGIES IN THE NEST
  5. Luigi is a good name .......what about Guiseppe ( pronounced jeseppy ) for the other boy
  6. You should have the hen in a cage resting on her own. Give her the best of food. The cock is meant to be with his babies. Breeding takes a lot out of birds and that why they need recovery time to build up bodyweight and health before being put back in the aviary.
  7. Never ever put a hen who has been raising babies straight back into a flight. She must be rested and regain lost bodyweight in a seperate cage for around two weeks.
  8. IMPORTANT POINT TO MAKE HERE NO budgie should be roaming free in a house WITHOUT SUPERVISION !!!!!!!! If you went out you should have put the budgie back in its cage before you went out.
  9. Well done on the cage and research PS dont take a pet store employees word for getting the sexing right. Try and remember any white on a cere is female even if its with blue
  10. Osman. You are missing some very vital and important information but you are already breeding and due to your lack or good information your birds will suffer. What you should be doing is stop breeding entirely until you have more knowledge. We can help you here and help you learn, but you must stop until you know more.
  11. Buy what is called a flight cage. 60cms by 40cms by 40cms. These are regularly available anywhere between $30 and $50

Colony breeding will account for broken eggs, and fights and smashed eggs, nestbox raids and killed or maimed chicks. If you truly want to experience the joy of successfully breeding budgies try one pair at a time in a breeding cage with their nestbox. Never have any budgies under the age of 12 months in an aviary where nestboxes are.
  13. The black on the beak is old blood. Signs of an injury ( minor ) that cause a small bleed. Nothing to worry about. No to the injectable.....the doseage often is wrong and some birds have been known to die after injections. Many topics on this forum on ivermectin to help you make a better decision
  14. I dont know why you were given a spray. We use ivermectin spot on. One spot on the back of the head under the feathers. One spot is usually enough. You would notice a marked change in two weeks. Your budgie still has scalyface mites. Waste of money for that vet and treatment in my opinion. Was it an avian vet or a normal vet. They may have given you a mite spray which is designed for feather mites and not meant for spraying on the budgies beak at all. As a matter of fact I have never heard of using a spray for scalyface mites especially on the face as many mites sprays arent meant to be sprayed on the face at all. Phone the vet.................ask if they are avian vets. Then ask for ivermectin spot on and do not pay for another consult as they owe you and didnt get it right the first time. Ask for ivermectin spot on and use it the way we advised and keep the remainder for future treatments. If they dont have it.....phone around till you find an avian vet that does and dont let them treat the bird once and ask you to return ....just go in and buy the spot on ivermectin and have the rest for future treatments.
  15. A budgie with a dark brown cere is considered just past breeding condition....unrelated to the age to breed. Wait till she goes back to the stage where its light to medium brown. Is the red ring a closed ring ? or not ? Red ring should be a 2009 bird.
  16. you have not said what colour the yf hen is
  17. Fine for the amount of birds you say but deeper would be better if you plan adding more birds in the future. Whats your budget ? Have you checked gumtree ?
  18. Calcium gluconate supplements are also sold at vets for pregnant and nursing dogs.
  19. They will rarely give breeder details if in fact they even keep records like that. Giving breeder details cuts them out as the middle man. allows you to source birds directly at the price the breeder sells them to the pet store. Wont happen. If there is other birds with green tails you need to get photos. Green tails belong on some birds anyway........so photos are needed. Take your camera and say you are doing research.

  22. **KAZ** replied to Taylor's topic in New to BBC
Taylor you cant take an image directly from your pc and place a link here. You have to join photobucket and upload to there then get an image link and post here.
  23. New to this forum and someone tells you to check out somewhere else before checking out the wealth of info here both in the FAQ section and past topics ??? Not the right thing to say to a new member Please look around this forum for info. We have gone to a lot of trouble and effort to make this an educational forum and have more good info than many other places
