  1. Contact your local budgerigar club and inquire about upcoming auctions or sales, as well as your local Avicultural Society.
  2. this one wing markings seem to be cinnamon not grey
  3. I dont know what vitaflight is. If you have bought a general vitamin supplement it wont fully address the lack of calcium. You will need a calcium supplement.
  4. I agree with Deans advice
  5. Do not put your faith in cuttlebones as a sole source of calcium. More budgies play with them rather than ingest them for the calcium.
  6. Thats the stupidest advice you have been given so far. Budgies dont need nestboxes to sleep in and it can force babies to breed too early by the mere presence of them. A good sign not to go back to that breeder. They have shown their lack of knowledge by that statement alone

That one looks okay Osman as it seems to have a wide flat base. Some we have seen in use arent quite like that and the room inside is more limited which would be hard if the Mum and dad have 5-6 chicks and not enough space.
  8. Its not really a disease Squeak......more of a genetic glitch.
  9. BUT the minute they all go back in the aviary together most , if not all, of your training will go down the gurgler One only budgie ( usually a male ) will be tamed by lots of one on one attention from their significant human. A very close bond is formed. Once they have their own kind they realise thats what they would rather have.......each other. So, with your aviary its most likely best they stay as aviary birds. But maybe Jessica can do what my husband does with his princess parrots.......he goes into the aviary every late afternoon and sits on a chair amongst them. He may have a plate of treats so he just sits there and enjoys the birds and the curious ones amongst them come to him. As they are princess parrots both of us get covered from head to toe in parrots......on head, neck, shoulders, feet and climbing up our legs. But its works with Budgies too. I have around 400 budgies and I do the same thing in my aviaries. Just sit and enjoy them. We have quails too. We also have 8 brand new baby quails that hatched out three days ago PS re breeding.....................dont be tempted to add nestboxes to a communal aviary in a hurry. its the hardest way to breed budgies successfully. And you must be certain that any budgies where nestboxes are, are over 12 months of age. Look forward to any photos you have.

What a great dad your daughter inherited to build her such a good sized aviary Welcome
  11. Can you explain better what you actually did and the reasons you thought of doing it, and what were the actual results of what you did ?
  12. Osman has trouble expressing himself sometimes. I wait for clarification
  13. Whats the weather and climate conditions where you are right now Ratzy and the conditions and temperatures for the next 3 months ? Take all this into consideration when about to breed. In many places birds are struggling in hot nestboxes.
  14. Explain yourself better Osman.
  15. Agree with all Deans advice............ just want to add Budgies or birds do NOT have PREGNANCIES
  16. Looking dilute opaline dom pied too ?
  17. Throw the egg away and give her some calcium in her water.......CALCIVET. Not only did she lay it off the perch but it shows she is lacking in calcium.
  18. Forum member Nubbly has posted a topic about her set up
  19. With your various cages you should be able to work something out and especially once you have worked out what sex your youngster is. If you want help with that just post a clear photo of its cere and we can help
  20. Photo isnt brilliant but both look to be BOYS.
  21. Two budgies only to a cage......one male and one female and both OVER 12 months of age. Females to be no older than 4 yrs or you risk complications. Any budgies under 12 months of age to be nowhere that a nestbox is.
  22. Jimmy is right. A closer clearer photo will help us work out sexes too cos both look to be males so far

Hi and welcome. First word of advice.......remove the nestbox. Not only do you not need it in a cage with three budgies but you have a juvenile in there that ( if it was female ) would be provoked into breeding too young by the presence of the nestbox. Only use a nestbox if you have a male and female only in the cage and both are over 12 months and the female is under 4 years.
  24. If they are over 12 months it doesnt matter if the male is older than his hen.
