I'll post a picture of it in the off topic forum.....don't think Blinkie would be too impressed with a coat.

Maybe he only wants to come out to be with you? So then he wouldn't want to just come out of his cage. Maybe he feels scared unless he's in his cage or with you....is he really attached to you??
  4. Yes, i can just see them drinking together like that smiley!

Hmm....there's something i can do with my sewing machine!!! I also want to make Mickey a jacket for winter! That should keep me busy for a couple of days. Fitted cage covers and dog coat.

Blinkie got territorial when he turned into a nasty teenager but i used that to my advantage. I used it to bribe him out of his cage and as an incentive to come out and play! Now he's totally friendly and looooves sitting at the computer admiring himself in his mirror!

    I hope he gets better!
  13. Blinkie has requested that i show you his mirror friend! And of course i do everything he wants me to do! He thinks he has the sexiest friend in the world! Hey sexy! Haven't seen you in a while!! How 'bout a smooch? Whatcha lookin' at, hey?! Do you think i look slim from this angle?? Aww....gotta go gorgeous! I'll see you soon!!

Awww.....well done! I'm glad he's getting around!!! How old are they??? 2 weeks???
  15. Bea replied to a post in a topic in Health Questions and Tips
Really? Wow! Well i kept all my budgies in the one cage with no boxes and they never bred. Even out in the aviary they don't LAY without boxes. They do mate though but surely that can't cause any harm.

Firstly, i am very sorry for your loss. Secondly, welcome to the forums!!! It's good that you're asking questions before you go out and get another budgie. The average life span for a budgie is about 7-8 years but with the right care 12+ isn't uncommon. A healthy budgie will have clear bright eyes, no discharge from nostrils, smooth healthy looking feathers, clean vent and it will be active. If it's on it's own you should also watch for irregular poop (runny, off colour, non-existent). Baby budgies are usually available all year round. You have to be careful when picking a budgie and make sure it's a baby. A baby will have no iris ring and black bars nearly right down to it's cere. One or two budgies is a personal choice. Are you home a lot and would one get a lot of attention? A lot of people start with 1 and then get another later on. You can get dewormer for budgies from pet shops or a vet. Was your budgie on an all seed diet??? A lot of people don't realise that a budgie can't get enough nutrients from seed alone, even if the seed is labled "Complete Budgerigar Food". It's not! Budgies need fresh fruit and vegetables daily or every second day. Things like brocolli, celery, lettuce, spinach, apple, carrot and sprouts usually go down pretty well but some budgies don't like trying new foods. You just have to be persistent. Hope all that helped a bit. Bea

AMAZING!!! It's like what you see at bird sanctuaries!!! Pixie - to answer your questions about my budgies going down to the floor. The baths were on a little table which they love running around on. However they don't have any problems going down to the floor either. When i give the fresh vegies they love dropping it on the ground then eating it down there.
  18. Do you mean like a second layer is growing underneath??? Is that how it looks??? Cause that would just be the beak growing.....if you supply Borris with cuttlefish and mineral block he will use them to keep his beak the right length.

If you don't give them nesting boxes then they wont breed. Simple as that. Some eager hens might lay in food dishes or on the floor but that's not likely. A lot of people keep boy and girl budgies together and don't get babies.

I got a fat budgie too! She can only fly short distances because her tum tum weighs her down. She's improved though, at one stage i had to have a perch from the floor to the wire because she would try to fly and just go plop! Try and get Candy to fly around more or even just walk around more.

I think it would be very flashy! I don't think there would be anything wrong with having one in there....

Don't know anything about the wood but with the mesh you should just go to the hardware store and try to find a square mesh with smaller than 1cm squares. :fear It should be super easy to find and not too expensive.
