Wonderful bubs Karen Is it the pictures or are the first two huge! Name suggestion for the creamino - Mellow

Light Green Spangle & Light Green Dilute
6 is an average number for them to raise. the worry is moving the eggs over to the second pair before they have finished laying and you could end up with the same problem you started with. (too many eggs under one hen) I myself would wait although if you haven't marked the eggs you might not know which one to move later.

Seed Tray Emptier
Yes I have had a few babies kick about the seed while learning what it is all for. The funniest times are when they kicked it about chasing mum or dad around begging for food. Freckle use to knock her seed dish off the bars as well, normally if I moved it she would leave it be for a month or so.

Two New Pairs!
I love Coral I hope things go well for you and these pairs. Sorry to hear about Harry I have fingers crossed that a very kinda family has found him. Did you put Coral and Barney together becuase they had already bonded? Just asking since Belle is a greywing and so is Barney (or clearwings) and you would have gotten more of them if paired together. Belle and Albert will give you opalines if they can connect.

Better Bubby Pics

Light Green Spangle & Light Green Dilute
Just as Ino can 'hide' the opaline gene I believe it can also 'hide' the spangle gene which would explain the spangle babies from that pairing. good luck with all the bubs. Are your other pair stating to lay soon? you might be able to move the newest eggs over to them later on.

Can You Say, 'duh' ?
Here's my current problem. Baby Angel is now six weeks old and that nasty old Jelly jumped her! He's been on top of her 3 times today - going at it like there's no tomorrow. First off, how common or uncommon is it for the dad to go at the baby like that? As Rainbow said it's kinda normal for a dad to do this. Sometimes it's an easy way to tell gender, since it's more likely to happen to hens. Second: I trust the baby isn't sexually mature enough yet for anything to come of that little bit of action? No I wouldn't worry about that. Third: I removed the baby and put her in her own little cage. Peanutbutter & Jelly don't seem to care that she's out of there. (Forgot to mention - they have two more new eggs in the box now). I haven't seen the baby eat on her own. I put some moistened egg food in a cup for her, along with some regular seed and some water. Will she figure out how to eat (husk the seeds) on her own? Is she too young? (She's six weeks old) Should I be trying to hand feed her? (I have food left from the little one who didn't make it.) Six weeks is around the time they should have started to eat seed by their own. Try her alone for a while in a cage with all the sort of things Rainbow listed and watch her to see if she eats, if not you can pop her back with mum and dad so dad can feed her.

Hi Im New Here And Have A Question Too
Welcome Daniel, it sounds like you have some fertile ones there, the last one laid will still have the clear look of an unfertile egg, around day 5 you start to see the veins you spoke of in the second egg. Even if you candle them all I would state to leave all the eggs in, when learning what to look for you can make mistakes and throw out an egg that was in fact good. When the babies arrive you can retry them with the carrot and other veggies they have not touched before. Budgie seem to LOVE the fresh food when they have young ones around. One of my hen had never had any fresh food in her love but dug into when breeding and will still eat it now.

Cinnamon And Ino
Hath was also meaning for a show side, if you end up with lacewings they are put under a different class from the luntino and albinos and may not be what you are after.

Unusual Colour
I see too much yellow for melanistic spangle to match. Rainbow - it states baby at the top and so I believe that is just the shorten tail of a young budgie before it's first moult. Look at the one on the left of the picture (half cut out) those wings look normal to me and are very dark compared to this one.

What Colours Are These Birds
The second and first babies I think are both opalines. 1. opaline spangle grey 2. opaline cobalt normal 2. spangle grey (ill take your word with the crested)
-
Seasons
In the wild they start around spring. For show they are bred from March to about October I think it was. The rain will send them into a breeding mode becuase rain means fresh food, like seeded grass.

Any Advice On Taming A Problem Bird
I don't think any animal is a lost cause. Can you tell us how long you have had her? There is another way from the gentle. Some here have found it ever useful to settle the bird quickly. although if she has an injured wing I'm not sure if it will work. What you do is catch the bird and hold her gently to your chest, if you think it helps let her climb or tunnel her way through your hands. The point is not to let her back into the cage until she has settled down and realized you are not wanting to hurt her.

Yay Saffy's Fostered Egg Hatched!
Sorry that you lost the young one. I hope these next two will make it through. As to the cold egg baby, the only thing I can think of it they might have felt cold but they were not cold long enough for the growing chick inside to die.

At First Glance She's Skyblue...but?
It is bugging me, but I did find the picture I was talking about in my photobucket. Berry is on the left and has a teal tail, Echo is next to her with a blue one and Scuttle is second on the right with again a teal tail. All are from the same clutch and parents.

Unusual Colour
What makes you say that Sailor? The wings to me look more yellow than black, yet I do see black and not grey markings. The flights look whitish rather than black and the tail is a yellow colour not the normal dark blue.
