  1. well we just have to remember with the pied gene all of it is down to chance, there are guild lines to how the colour should look but they are not always followed Beeper is stunning.
  2. Ahh I didn't realise JJ was from a different clutch (or else I simply forgot which is most likely with me;) ) Yes I would agree with Lutino given those facts.
  3. wow Oswald is one already! Happy birthday day big boy

  7. yes either is was a misprint (which was the first that came to mind) or he doesn't know the name and made one up. They sound like a nice colouring and so it doesn't surprise me they are gone already.
  8. Great pictures and they all look great. I'm glad the feeding is going so well. Sonrisa and Pie are Opalines, pie is skyblue while Sonrisa is cobalt and look to be a girl. With the white flight feathers on Pie means pied as well. JJ is too soon to tell, Albino maybe (since the other two are blue)
  9. That's great to hear. thank you also for the update.

You should know that the eggs only take 18-20 days to hatch. So it seems these ones are again overdue. This problem could be anything from eggs not being fertilized, the hen not sitting correctly (eggs going cold) to death in shell, which is caused by lack of humidity.
  11. The only mutation I know with the word 'back' in is the Saddle back. I have yet to find a good picture of this mutation to understand what it does. As to White Laser back I'm as lost as Bubbles.
  12. Sounds like the eggs have not hatched yet, you could remove the male with ease for a vet check. I have taken a laying hen to the vet (the day she was due to lay) and she continued on to raise that clutch. While at the vet you can get treatment enough for all your birds. Do you have any other nesting/sitting hens you could move the eggs too? that way you can remove both the parents to lessing the chance of your other birds getting this.
  13. How many editions are there?? I've always wanted to read this book, i think I'll watch this ebay auction.
  14. Wow that's amazing. It goes to show how splits can be carried down for ages with out a clue that they are there.
  15. Cheeta - Yes they are the same (from all I have read) it's simply another name used in different parts of the world.
  16. I think Belle is a girl, from the looks of it the bars on the head go all the way to the cere and for a baby a bluish/white cere means a girl.
  17. Some new folks to the genetics world here may be confused with all the shorts cuts used in the posts around here and their meaning. Here is your guide to understand. DF (df, d-f) Double Factor SF (sf, s-f) Single Factor YF (yf, y-f) Yellowface DEC Dark Eyed Clear Ino Lutino or Albino Rec. Recessive GF Golden Face BES Black Eyed Self dom Dominant Pied Others feel free to add more :ausb: These have all been added to the FAQ Section
  18. To get DEC I always believe you still needed two Rec. pied gene and one clear flight (dutch) pied gene to show as DEC. I would use a rec. pied hen.
  19. Cute little greens :ausb:
  20. I want Golly !!
  21. I'm agreeing too But I have to say he (or she ) is one big cutie!
  22. 50% pieds 50% normals if she is split blue then you can get some blue bubs as well. If he is Opaline (it's somewhat hard to see) then all the hens will be Opaline. The males as Lovey stated will be split cinnamon
  23. Keep trying with the food. How old the babies? I don't have any experience with hand rearing but the formula is runny for young ones and gets thicker with age (at least the packet I had just in case indicated that) You can try some warm milk if need be to try and get some substance into them as well. I know Daz has given a drop or two to his young babies that had yet to be feed to help them. He might have watered it down but I can't recall. Would your work let you take them with you?? then you can feed them during the day.
  24. Interesting feathers, I remember reading (on here) that violet give a deeper hue to the yellow on lutinos. I have a feeling Daz told me that but I could be wrong. Grey and Greygreen ( i think) are used to help with size and Opaline for head shape and spots (which don't help with inos) Your right, Hath made a post about that in the show area.
