  1. Yes that's right Salior, Rocket the dad has a white face but is a Double Factor yellowface making all his babies single factor yellowfaces.
  2. I'm not sure of fake plants, do you know the name of those that made the exhibit? You might be able to find them online along with info on how they made the set up.
  3. I just wish I could recall where I got the info from. I know it's connected to a picture I posted up of all the babies from one of Tootie's and Marine's clutch but it's a very vague memory.
  4. wow it looks super! I thought mine was big but that makes me jealous!

If you haven't marked them then you don't know which is the oldest. The first laid you might have trouble seeing anything more than an air-bubble, but I think it's great to see the little veins growing and if your lucky the pin head size heart beat. Remember to wash your hands (use a paper towel to dry if you can) and handle them the smallest amount possible.
  6. sad to hear that this flu is stopping things like this

size doesn't give an idea to gender. In frogs it is the females that are larger. The size with budgies depend greatly on the what the breeder is breeding for, if they are a show breeder they will produce larger birds than a person their feathered friends. If the cere is pink and smooth as you say then yes I would think male. Ino males keep the baby pink cere all their life.
  8. To start showing budgies you have to join a local budgie club in your area. That is where you get the rings from that are needed on the bird to be shown. As to the colours and pairings I will leave that to the experts to explain.
  9. very cute Love the last one, i think YF inos are fast becoming another favourite of mine
  10. that little one is a yellowface type 2 spangle.
  11. wow, so one if these parents is a DF yellowface They all look so cute.
  12. Interesting to know that each bird is judged for it's ability rather than following a date/ age plan for all.
  13. I can't remember when I added some more. I think i added a handful while there was still eggs. Last time Tootie didn't remove a lot of it and Ringo only had two babies to hatch.
  14. Great answer Feather I agree with the others that you could have a DF spangle (which looking at some pictures of your bird you have a couple)

that they do. Squeaker was just finished a shake which explains his bulk.
  16. I have a few that have a greenish hue to the tails as well. I can't remember now if it was a sign of the violet gene or something else. But a connection to the violet gene is what is sticking in my head.
  17. Hurdy if you look at the flight feathers they clearly have the thin black line of a spangle rather than grey flight feathers like a greywing/ clear wing would have. Kerrie your first baby I think when fully grown will look practically like a normal green colour since there is already a lot of bleed of yellow into the chest are, this will continue to grown downwards to cover the rest of the body.
  18. sorry to hear that BL What is the meds that have been given?
  19. the first looks like a male the second a female. both look great.
  20. I was hoping you would answer Daz before I had to hunt out the answer that I'm sure I've seen somewhere here before.
  21. Yes I would remove both of them from the breeding cage and rest them, watch her cere closely and when it is turning brown again (tan not the deep brown) match them up again. This will give you the chance to get her best fertility time for breeding. Is your grey cock a normal grey? if so you will get normal grey and if he is SF normal blue babies. All the males will be split for Ino. If he is a greywing grey you will get the same babies (normal grey and normal blue) but all of them will carry the greywing gene. This is recessive so the hen needs to be split for it to get any babies appearing as greywings.

:(Laughing out loud): I was thinking while taking the pictures Berry and Poka were looking a bit pudgy. Yep from Jazz and Bluey. From memory they are just like the spangle gene. I almost got another Clearbody the other weekend. A grey-green male but the seller was really busy which gave me time to really study him and after each time after a fright he would fluff all up. He might have just been sleepy but I didn't want the risk. I can't wait to see if Squeaker gives me another like her
  23. I'm sorry that your little one is sounding ill. Call a avian vet near you and tell them the problem with the money, they may organize a payment plan or willing to take payment the next week. Also to help your budgie make him warm. Put a bed lamp or desk lamp as close as possible to the cage and cover about 3/4 with a blanket to keep the heat. Giving an outside heat source means the bird doesn't have to work as hard to keep themselves warm and can use that energy to fight the illness. I don't think the corn would be at the cause of this, i give it to mine all the time and by the sound of thing the breeder had given it before.
  24. Very nice bubs. Are the more an olive colour? (the green ones) on screen they look a lot like grey-greens.
