  1. Chevy is still hard to tell but I think June (Jack) is a boy. My males flirt with each other all day out in the aviary.

Pepeek is stunning Welcome to the site I hope you enjoy yourself here
  3. Goldenfaces tend to get more green on the chest as babies and turn more green all over on the body than yellowfaces type 2.
  4. I would lean to Goldenface, with the green on the chest already.
  5. I'm thinking like the others in that June and Chevy look more like boys. Recessive pied keep the smooth pink cere of young males the hens will get the normal brown cere.
  6. they all looked great. I like the cinnamon green bub (picture 6)
  7. Thinking of you and little Jim. I hope he recovers quickly.

Hi Shann. Sorry to here that Winnie had some issues while growing up, sounds like you did a great job setting up a living space to suit her. What happened to the other baby?

Funny that none of use picked it up before, but in those shots the cere is a very light blue, which means female. (young or out of condition) As to asking about gender some post in the mutation area and others in the General Questions About Budgies. Either will be fine.

Nothing is coming to mind on what could give this issue. It looks healthy enough. It might be a bit long. Maybe a vet trip to get her checked out.

This is all I can think it is as well (plucking) You can take the whole family to the vets (avian) to get the bub checked out for any issues. You said this has happened before, did the other babies survive? Did their feathers grow in after leaving the nest and parents?
  14. If Jewel was a cinnamon she would be a Lacewing (fallow is a different gene), but she would be showing brown markings, she can't 'hide' it under the Ino gene like opaline. so your right your bub is a girl, when young there is a stage when both genders have bright pink ceres. I think I hinted in my post to your thread that you had a girl.
  15. LOVE the oldest great colour.
  16. If you look in the Budgie Mutations, Varieties and Genetics area of the board there are pinned topics titled Members' "something" Budgies. There are MANY pictures there to look over. As to your birds, I'm not 100% sure that you have three hens. The second one is is very puzzling, the cere on the edge is a pink/purple colour and around the nares I don't see a lot of white or tan around. Also I was think your male on the right was a greywing not a spangle (no spangle markings on the under tail) Your hen on the left may be younger than you think, I can have 2-4 month old babies looking like that. If you don't know their exact ages it's best to guess a bit younger than you think.
  17. I think they are both DF spangles, sometimes you get a bit of colour on their body. the second looks male, but the top is a bit hard to tell.
  18. She looks like my Reepicheep Yellowface type 2 opaline
  19. *Nerwen* replied to a post in a topic in New to BBC
There is a df yellowface (type one) that appears white face, however it should give all sf yellowface babies (showing yellowface) There is the other possibility that your hen was breeding with another before being moved into the breeding cage.
  20. both look great and the second one did turn out to be sf spangle (greywing?) if you want the blue one inside the other bub will settle into the flock alright on his own.
  21. Thank you I can see the grey on the wings (what is left) But I also still see the spangle. Is there any one else out there that can? or it is just me?
  22. yes around now he should start to feed the baby more. Jewel might be a bit protective of the nest since there is only one chick. or she just might not like her partner in the box with her.
  23. They are all looking stunning:D
  24. wow Daz Great work. Good luck with it all
