Violet/mauve/grey
used the 654 number. I'm not saying she can't be violet grey - as personally I've not seen one in real life and that is how i can notice differences in colours the best. I'm just using tools to show the best match to her colour. i used this colour to tool on pictures with my own birds ages ago. Moglet it is a colour picked to state what is the colour aimed for in showing by the World Budgie Organisation. (check out the link) edit - teehee I love your new "pink" hen.

Violet/mauve/grey
using the WBO colour guide. (http://bestofbreeds....colourguide.htm) it appears that mauve matches her colouring. the coloured lines are: Cobalt Mauve Grey Violet

Budgie Weightwatchers
give him Finch or Canary mix seed rather than budgie. This doesn't have the oats in it, but still safe for them. it was a tip given to me by an avian vet when i had an obese hen - and it was safe for her while breeding.

Quick Questions
congratulation on getting a little one for yourself. normally they have a shoebox or something similar to put them in with air holes all set up. but if you have a cage already you can take that in to carry your friend home in. I would suggest a sheet to cover the cage while moving the bird around. as to the food there is heaps of things for a budgie to eat. the seed always need to be supplied but fresh fruit and veggies are a big plus for the diet (once they start eating it) edit - adding info a breeder, if a good one, can give you the history of the bird and should be able to tell you the correct date of hatching and age now. But as that may be hard to find in San Francisco. Look up for any budgie clubs around you to locate breeders. Otherwise familiarize yourself with what a young budgie looks like so you don't have to take the word of the store workers. they would tell you a 2 year old bird was 3 months just to make a sale.

Combining Clearbody And Lacewing
well if you are removing any splits that will later affect your clearbody lines I don't see an issue. it seems you have thought it out for a while. You would have to be happy to cull the extra males from the pair. Is the lacewing hen of good stock to put to the cock?? Do you have other hens? edit- used a text shortcut.

Can Anyone Shed Some Light On My Budgies
Oki - Yellowface type 2 cobalt Skyler - cobalt recessive pied Angel and Tweety - need a better shot, i can't tell if their eyes are red which would make the Ino's (albino for Angel and Lutino for Tweety) or if they are black...if they are black then we need to know if there are iris rings presence to determine their type.

Cosmo Is Chatting Up Sparkles!
wise move, i would wait until you can breed the two pairs at the same time (separately still). She could have been unsettled and now around other birds feels more at ease.

Cosmo Is Chatting Up Sparkles!
ha, budgies always have their own plans. Have you breed them before moglet?? two weeks is a normal time for a bond to start forming between budgies. good to hear she is settling down.

New Classes At Nationals
what will be gained with dividing the colours and dark factors into groups? I can see the point of the two spangle groups .

Please Help Me Identify My Budgies!
that much redness i still say ino not a DEC or doublefactor spangle which have normal black eyes. Some ino's have dark red eyes.

First Breeding Journal
yes Maddy, this was a disaster - you did everything you could to prevent it (i myself have used a tissue box as a save spot for babies. It is a terrible thing to lose a baby, and my heart goes out to you. Potato is looking older now and should be fine with dad in the cage. Watch him as well he may act a little crazy trying to moult his offspring so i would still add a box for them on the bottom of the cage. hugs to you again. if you write down records record this for next time the hen has a round and remove her hen possible.
