Ooo, I'm Grumpy!
I guess it comes down to how badly you want it... I live in Geelong and could come with you... BUT I wouldn't scare a fly off a mouse poo!!! :mouse: (and therefor wouldn't provide much back up!!!)

So agree Macka... he has nothing to stand on!!! Let ebay deal with him, and if you get the lot for $25, I'd be taking back up with you... BIG back up!!!

Initial Trust
Slow and steady wins the race... keep it up. If he has a fear of hands... remember NEVER to grab him. (I'm not saying you would) If you do all his trust will be lost. Maybe try a fist as opposed to a 'hand'. They will look different and may not be 'as' scary. Keep us updated... maesie

New Member To The Family
Congratulations! What a sweetie. After your 30 day quarintine in seperate rooms, I'd move their cages into the same room... next to each other if you wish(and if they are happy with it)... then next step would be to have out of cage time together... then in cage time together... then the same cage. These steps could take months... or longer... or it may NOT work. The key would be to work slowly and see how they get along... good luck with it when the time is right. Good on you for quarintining and on a very nice buy (((As to thier size difference... I wouldn't worry. Size doesn't seem to make much difference when it comes to budgies)))

Awww, what little cuties

Baby Butcher Bird
Although not ideal to hand raise wild birds... to put it back would be a certain death sentence (in my neighborhood anyway-cats, dogs, cars, people...) I agree with the early suggestions to call a wildlife career... Good luck to you and the bird!

Buying Budgies
I would stear clear of markets. They aren't the best place to buy animals... along with many pet shops. I'd be looking into buying a young budgie from a breeder. Where abouts in Australia are you from? I'm sure someone on here would be able to help you out

Sad News From Home....
Thank you everyone for your thought and prayers. The funeral was very hard, but something that had to be done. My grandma was so strong and my grandpa would have been so proud. My Mum is still with her and Dad came home today. It's all still very sureal... and then I go to Mum and Dad's for a visit and Sammi is not there to greet me at the door with a big hug... which I could so do with right now You may have noticed I have been a little quiet. I am still around and still spend a bit of time on the BBC (good to keep my mind off things), but often don't have the energy/ability to comment. I'm doing okay, but times are still really hard to bare. Sometimes it's like nothing happened... and other times I find it hard to get out of bed. I know I will get there... It's just hard to see a way though...

Birdluv's journal is great... Start by just having his cage near you as much as possible... when you're on the computer, doing chores etc... and talk to him all the time... the more he is around you, the calmer he'll become. Then you can up the anti with taming. Good luck and keep us updated. I've found that my girls prefer my hand (palm down). I always repeat 'step up' and say good bird when they step up. They do step up on my finger, but prefer the back of my hand.
