I would stop checking that often. You are probably disturbing her. I check my birds twice a day when they are laying. No more is needed.

Might As Well Introduce Myself While I Impatiently Wait!
I was excited when I saw you posted... I thought you would have heard something by now. You could even contact them asking if they got your request, and then say you're just checking how it is going??? I feel your pain... it's so hard waiting. Good luck and I hope to hear good news soon!

Crows
Or... tinsel, the bladder form cask wine (inflated), old CD'd... anything that will scare them from hanging around. (Just be careful as what ever you use may scare your birds too.

Excellent news AV. If he goes to you when he is scared, that's a great start in the bonding process. Elmo is so adorable! I'm sure he is going to keep you on your toes

How Many Birds
Mine is that size: I have just 2, but if they were given heaps of out of cage time (as Liv said), I'd probably have 3 or 4 at a push.

To My Surprise...
Congratulations!!! I'm so happy for you. Neville is right... and as to when to expect the next one... it's hard to tell. Most likely, every second day, but you never really know. Once bubs arrive, I ALWAYS check morning and night, as this way you have hopefully able to avoid problems if they arise. When doing so, I tap softly on the door and then open it. She'll get used to you doing this and shouldn't mind to much. Also, make sure you remove the empty shells (if you haven't done already) as they can get stuck on the other eggs and make it hard for them to hatch.

Fledging Chicks
Your question that got lost: The term fledge refers to when the chicks leave the nest box. It's a great idea to have a box or alike on the floor of the cage for the bubs... but if you notice they are getting picked on by Mum or Dad, I'd be removing them. As others have said, you can remove Dad and chicks as he will finish raising them... then he can be returned to his partner for another round if you wish. I feed my budgies frozen veggies. I live on my own and don't use enough fresh ones to make it worth while for me or the birds. I put them in a dish and cover with very hot water. After awhile, I pour out the water and either serve as is, or blend up. It's also beneficial to hard boil and egg, and blend this up also (shell and all) and add it to your veggie mix. As to native branches/leaves and flowers, do you have any friends or relatives who may have these tress in their garden? You can get them from parks etc... but you have to be very careful as it they are near road, fumes from cars etc can make your birds sick, if the area has been sprayed for weeds, this can also be trouble. Where ever you end up getting them from, be sure to give them a good clean with a hose or warm water before giving them to your birds.

Freaking Out
His cage looks fantastic... and isn't he a handsome boy! It sounds like a good sign if he has eaten, drunk and is checking out his cage! I'm so excited for you. Have you decided on a name yet? I'd be using it everytime I went past his cage, and when you speak to him. That way he'll start to recognise it as his own! Fun times ahead mate!

What Sex To Buy
I have my first inside birds who I breed myself. I was hoping for two boys... but out of 5 bubs, it looks like they are all female. They do fight a little, but they'll get used to each other, and in time, the hierarchy will sort itself out!
