Thank you all for the luck wishes I have been told that if nothing has happened after 4 weeks, to put them out. I so desperately want some normal blues to do splits with down the track. I would like some normal greens, but I actually have NO normal green hens and one very average cock who is only interested in boys anyway I can understand your impatience pie, I have been lucky with some pairs too, that go down in a week. I am really glad I waited as long as I did though, now I will wait impatiently for results LOL

I have four very lovely blue normal type birds. 2 hens and 2 cocks. I have tried different pairings with them and am on my last try with one pair together. They have been in the cabinet since 31st August, which is quite a while and if they hadnt done anything in the next few days, I was going to put them out. She has been constantly in and out of the nest box almost since they were put in, but hasnt laid. They are bonded, he has been feeding her and all the signs have been good, but week after week......nothing. Finally!! We have one egg today! And to think I was this > < close to giving up on them. So now I just have to cross my fingers they are a fertile pair
  5. Good luck! The chicks are stunning. My green clearbody cock started a really bad moult while in the cabinet, they have been laying and smashing eggs, so no babies to worry about so they are out of the cabinet now for recovery time.
  6. What an adorable bunch of babies
  7. I know how you feel Liv - my grey clearbodies are due on the 5th of October and it just seems like forever away!!

  9. Cute post. It's amazing how quickly they grow and develop isnt it.
  10. I will answer what I know 1. Usually between 5 and 7 is an average number 2. Not sure about this, but personally I would only foster to another hen who already has an egg 3. That would depend on how many eggs they lay. They usually lay (on average) one egg every 2nd day until they are done 4. Yes, some hens will start sitting straight away and not come out much after an egg has been laid 5. Most of my hens are happy for the cock to come in the nesting box, but that usually happens more after the chicks have hatched I have found. I am sure if any advice I have given is incorrect, someone will correct me and let you know and I will learn too
