Gracie And Darius
My breeding room window faces onto the back yard and I often "spy" on my birds from outside when I am walking past, cause I find it a good way to check on their behaviour etc without them being interrupted and knowing I am there. Anyway, I had camera in hand and had to take a picture of blue baby being adventurous on the little ladder I put in there. Darius is preening behind the water feeder, Grace is perched, baby 1 is in the corner napping, baby 2 is foraging and baby 3 is finding out about the world of climbing

Hen Has Lost Her Partner!
From my understanding, and I am sure I will be corrected if I am wrong, all the eggs remain fertile for a week from when they mated. Good luck with your little hen

Trip To Vet
Sorry to hear your news Neat. I hope you do well at the Auction. As a friend of mine constantly says, "buyer beware". I have also learnt alot from my auction experience too, though so far, fortunately, most of the birds we have bought are going down and I have had a couple of results so far *hugs* Mind you, I have a couple of cocks who, so far, seem to be useless as far as breeding goes. They looked great in a show box on the day, but you always have to wonder why a bird is being sold

Lily And Jack
Thanks guys. Yes Neat, I am hoping for lacewings. I would like to focus mostly on lacewings and tcbs in my breeding. I have another pair of white lacewings down. Once again, they markings on this pair are not great either, but I know there have been genes in there that have thrown lovely birds, so hopefully with some breeding, time and patience, I will start to get well marked birds and build size

My First Cabinet Pairs.
Congrats on the 2nd bub. I really dont know about the first, I keep reading on the forum that sometimes it takes 24 hours before the hen starts to feed the baby. Maybe you could put it in with the other newborn for tonight, and transfer it back after its mother has had the 2nd in the clutch? Thats just a guess, not knowlege or experience

Lily And Jack
This is Lily and Jack. She is a badly marked lacewing (but a lacewing nonetheless) and he is lutino split lacewing. I have been trying to get some pics of them and their babies for a few days now, but they seem to keep coming out blurred and I havent been able to get any good shots of mum, so I posted a couple of old ones of her from when I first got her. They have 5 babies. 2 yellow, 2 white and a beanie just hatched 4 days ago. I nearly missed him when he was hatched! But mum and dad are looking after all babies wonderfully Lily in the aviary and the day I brought her home, still in her carry cage, I only included this so you could get an idea of what I meant by "badly marked" Jack, her doting partner The babies, unfortunately I had to use the flash to get it bright enough to take pics in the box and they look like they have red eyes from the flash but they all DO have red eyes lol Mum decided to get back in the box and was mobbed, you can barely see her at the back And then dad wanted to have a look and check out what was going on too! Oh you can also see him in the picture above checking one of the younger babies Hope you enjoy my little gems

Blue and the Vet Visit
I am no expert on any of this, but if you are worried about him not getting enough water, maybe feed him a little lettuce.

Breeding in Ken's Aviary
It looks great. We did a similar thing for our Regent hen who has feet problems. We turned the box on it's side and put it on a ledge far enough back that she would be able to sit on the ledge in front of the box but it also still has the perch, so the cock likes to sit on that.

Pet Shop Rescues!
I missed these updates! He looks absolutely gorgeous, so happy and vibrant - he looks like a new bird! Still waiting on the hen updates :happy-dancing: As everyone has already said, good for you for helping these unfortunates. They are blessed to have "found you"

Drilling Ventilation Holes For Nestboxes
Eeeeeeekkk!! Baby jailbirds! lol That is such a great idea, thanks for sharing :happy-dancing:

Patience
Last time I checked in, they had 3 eggs, but I try not to look in on my hens too often, once they start laying, to lessen the chances of kicked or addled eggs. Sometimes I take a peek when I havent seen the hen for a while just to make sure she is okay, but I have seen this hen poke her head out often enough to know she is fine. I also dont have a decent torch for candling.........yet. Mind you, I usually just wait until they are due and wait, and wait..... lol Will keep you updated :happy-dancing:

Drilling Ventilation Holes For Nestboxes
I do too, as I have front slides on my nest boxes and they are in a room that promises to get quite warm during summer. Thanks for the suggestion! :happy-dancing:

Gracie And Darius
Thank you My guess on sex (on personality) is 1 hen, 2 cock, 3 hen. Baby 1 is the spitting image of her mum and screams just like she does lol

Confused Hen?
