New Pics
What a cutie I can see a little blue on his cere also. Sometimes, if a bird has a hormone imbalance, they may not show a true colour cere. I have a hen who has a light blue cere I picked her up cheap, and her breeder assures me that she is just out of season. Personally, I doubt that she will breed Oh well, who knows in the mysterious world of budgies lol

Big Poops
If they have young beanies, they are still spending most of their time in the nest box, so they "save up" their poos and just drop it all in one big go when they come out for a quick stretch etc. It's more relative to the time they spend in the nest box than to just do with the laying process

Heavenly Pics
Thanks guys I thought the chickies were going to be the same colouring, but one has yellow tips on the wings and the other has greenish blue tips on the wings. It's hard to get pics of them, they won't sit still long enough! I will wait a couple more days for more colour and try again

Heavenly Pics
Can you tell that because of all the white fluff? I am kinda hoping both babies will be the same as mum and dad

Heavenly Pics
This is Heaven and Zeus. YF cobalt opalines. They were sold to me as badly marked clearwings, but I think it would be easier just to say they are greywings. They are such a pretty couple. They only had 2 babies and I havent fussed with them too much, just checking in on them. The last couple of days, I have started handling the babies more though, so they are used to me and I couldnt believe it when mum decided to jump back in the box while I was looking at her babies. She is sooooooo unbelievably calm! I can actually gently push her aside to get at the babies and she nibbles on my fingers and fusses over the babies. She is NOT hand tamed, she was sold to me by a breeder who doesnt handle her birds any more than most and she has been in my aviary for about 6 months. I can actually talk to her while messing with her babies and gently scratch her chin. So, I had to try and get a few pics of my lovely Heaven and her babies, unfortunately, they didnt come out the best. I also took a snap of Zeus so you could see who daddy is to and last but not least, the lovely boy Zeus, who would prefer NOT to be in the box while I am lol

Adonis And Cinny
It is a shame, they certainly made lovely babies together, but maybe he is feeling stressed and cabinet bound or something and as you say Liv, after a rest in the aviary, he may come around again. Mind you, there is always next year with his beautiful violet son

Adonis And Cinny
Just an update on Cinny and Adonis. The chicks have well and truly fledged and are in the nursery aviary, all doing very well. Once the chicks were out of the breeding cabinet, I put Adonis back in with Cinny, but for some reason, he didnt seem interested. Poor Cinny was dying to have a second clutch and she was back in the nest box and laying eggs, which werent going to be viable without his interest. I was hoping he might become interested and I had seen him sitting on the nest box perch and paying her some attention, but certainly not as enthusiastically as you would think and young cock would be. Anyway, last night, Adam went in to check the birds before turning out the light and his timing couldnt have been better. Cinny and Adonis were having a huge nasty fight and Adam had to put his hands in to break them up. He was bitten by both for his trouble. I put Cinny in a holding cage for the night and left Adonis in the cabinet. Today I put them out in the nursery aviary. I dont know if these two will bond again in future, it seems odd that a pair who have had a clutch together should turn on each other like this. I tend to think the problem is more his than hers, she just wants to have babies and isnt an aggressive type of hen and he was the one I had trouble with earlier, with pecking at the oldest baby. Anyway, I just thought I would add this post to share this experience

Our New Parrot Aviary
Oh Kaz, you really dont realise how deserved that is When Adam (Kozzie on the forum) and I first got together, I had a back yard full of limestone and weeds. He said to me (I think to impress) "we can landscape your yard, fairly easily and cheaply". Well after buying a jackhammer and various other tools and A LOT of back breaking digging, bringing garden soil etc I have heaven in my back yard. We estimate about 30 tonne of rubble, limestone etc being taken out. He also casually mentioned "would you like an aviary in your yard?". I shrugged my shoulders, being an animal lover, and said sure why not. Silly boy LOL. That was when he built the first aviary, his own design and build, which is 10ft tall by 11ft across and 22 feet deep. Birds are now our main focus and I love them all. My back yard is now a beautiful garden of native shrubs, aviaries and gorgeous birds. We are almost done, there is a spot for the bird room to come (so it moves out of my spare room) and a small shed to store tools (also in the current temp bird room). He has brought pleasure and happiness to my life I had never even thought about. I love my bird hobby and I am forever grateful for all he has done to introduce me to the madness (and peace) :D

Our New Parrot Aviary
Thank you for all the kind words. It was hard work, but definitely well worth it. Still miserable weather today, but we will be going off later to my sister's again to forage for more large branches to finish the last aviary and rehome the Regent parrots. When there is more sunshine about, I will endeavour to get some inside photos of the aviaries with the birds :rip:

Our New Parrot Aviary
Well, spring was coming up fast and we had to decide what we were going to do with our native parrots as there really wasnt enough room for them to all have space to breed in the large aviary, even though it is plenty large enough to accommodate them the rest of the year around. The options were to remove all breeding boxes or to separate pairs into aviaries of their own. Adam, my fiance, decided on the latter - so it began. First we dug out and removed 5 skip bins of rubble that had been sitting in the spot we wanted to use from renovations to the rest of the yard. That was fun!@ (not). Then Adam measured it out and boarded it up for concrete. Then the truck came in and poured and we were wading about in concrete in rubber boots, shovelling it all around to even out the pour. We actually came up short  and then the rush was on, running off to Bunnings, buying a few more bags of cement, mixing it in the wheelbarrow and pouring it in. I think we ended up about 18 bags short , but we did it! Then we erected the aviaries, drove to my sister's rural property and scavenged some nice huge gum branches and Adam arranged them quite artfully in the first two aviaries, but we didnt have enough for the third. We also added some breeding boxes, then the birds. The Crimsons are in the first section, the Supberbs/Barrabands in the 2nd and the Regents will be going in the third section, though that hen is sitting on eggs right now in a temporary aviary, but I am 100% sure theyre not viable now. The pile of rubble Removing the rubble.....those three skip bins in the background plus 2 more Almost there!! Ready for concreting Pouring the concrete
