  1. I just wish that he was opaline so they would have those pretty wing markings she carries. Nevertheless, Boof is still a nice looking boy I think

  9. Hi guys I am interested in opinions as to what coloured babies Boof and Sophie might have. They have just had their first 2 babies and as these are my pet types, I will be selling the babies as hand tamed pets. I realise these are all just guesses, as I dont know the genetics of them other than greywing. I'm keeping my fingers crossed Boof is split for blue so we get some blue types as well. Sophie is opaline - my understanding is that being that she is opaline the babies wont be unless dad is?? Anyway, please let me know what you think. Boof - Light green greywing Sophie - YF2 skyblue opaline greywing (this is an old picture of her and since her moult, her yellow has bled )

  13. I look forward to more pics and info with this post. Some of mine I can sex at an early age as it jumps right out, but sometimes I am not quite so sure, particularly with inos, recessives etc. I havent even tried to guess sex at babies this young. Maybe I should and record it and see how accurate I am

  15. Good thread JB, I am reading with interest. I always like to know what others do also. I may or may not pick up their methods, but at least it gives me more choices to create my own "method".

Im so sorry to hear about Betty I wish you all the best with the babies and hope things improve
  18. I have my birds clipped at my vet, as I dont feel confident enough to do it myself. My vet charges about $15 to clip the wings. Wing clipping stresses the bird at the time of getting it done and for a little while afterwards as they readjust to no flight, but it doesnt hurt them. I had to have a parrot clipped earlier this year as I was frightened he would fly straight out the door, cause he was undisciplined. He flights have now grown back in and he fortunately has learnt about the security of his cage and when it is time to go away, he is very easy to get back in. If he hadnt become this way and was still hard to catch and control, I would have him clipped again, mostly for his own safety and to save me the heartbreak of losing him
