Boof And Sophie
Hi Hills These guys are all doing great with their foster parents. I think the oldest may be a cock, but Im still not sure on the sexes of them. I have been meaning to take pics, cause the comparison to the old pics will be very noticeable, but havent gotten around to it yet. I like to choose a time of day where I get as much natural light as possible so as to not use the flash. At least two of them from memory are that pretty aqua sea green colour like mum, so dad must be split blue. Thanks for asking

Feather Duster?
Such a cute little thing! Looks like it may be having a stress moult maybe. Several of my babies have gone through this and I am now just waiting until they are old enough for their first real moult and keeping my fingers crossed that their flights and tail feathers grow back in

Lizards Vs Snakes
We have a beardie too, and whilst I think the waterdragons are more exotic to look at, from what I know of them from the reptile store, they are more aggressive than beardies. Our bearded dragon is a big ol softy

What A Fright
That's so cute! Our first and best show baby would sleep on the bottom of the cage and to start with I thought there was something wrong with him and was really worried he wasnt going to make it. He would also eat, while still laying down. My fiance came up one weekend and went to look at the birds and informed me my big violet boy was dead. I laughed and said, no he's just lazy. Adam said, laying down with his feet stuck out behind him?? I panicked a bit and ran in to check him and sure enough, he was alive and well, just having a lazy nap. He is now out in the nursery aviary and doing fine

A Little Help
I'm not fabulous with mutations and some of the pics are a little washed out from the flash, so I will let someone a bit more knowledgeable tell you that. I just know clearwings - as I picked one up about a year ago and fell in love with him then found him a girlfriend and they have bred this season and I am now considering making them "my thing" :bump: (well one of my things anyway lol)

Beetroot
Beetroot, beetroot, beetroot - that's all I'm hearing lately! Different ideas about it and how good it is and how to also feed it to my parrots as well as the budgies. So I bought a fresh bunch this morning and am going to try "everyone" on it over the next couple of days. I wont be boiling, just using it in hunks for parrots and grated for budgies. I was wondering however, can you give them the leaves on the beetroot or is it best to chop these off?

A Little Help
Yes, she would be a light green clearwing wing and the clearwing mutation is recessive, so you need two clearwings to get visual clearwings, or if you mated her to a normal cock, their offspring would have cocks split to clearwing.

A Little Help
The yellow/green bird you queried is a clearwing :bump:

Budgie clubs?
I joined my first club just to learn more, mind you I was breeding, but at that time, I was breeding pet types. I dont think they would have even cared if I owned a budgie or not, they just like to share their knowledge etc. I guess everywhere is different, but the club I joined was very warm and welcoming, even though the majority of them were show breeders, I was treated well and learnt alot. PS I now breed show type birds, it gets addictive!! :hap:

Feather Dusters And Other Misconceptions
My friend bred a feather duster recently - a light green dom pied cock and he is sooooooooooo cute. I wanted to take him home for my son as he would have adored him, but their limited lifespan deterred me from doing that as he would have become attached and it would have broken his heart for it to die too quickly. This is a fascinating article - Thanks for posting Kaz

- Watch Out Wa - I'm Coming To Perth!
I'm so jealous! I hope you have a ball, I am sure you will. Give hugs to Libby and Kaz for me :laughter:- Big Vinnie And Sootica Have A Baby
Absolutely gorgeous :laughter: Im starting to not name birds. All my birds had names to start with, but it frustrates me if I dont have a name for a bird I am using, cause I hate just referring to them by colour - it seems impersonal to me lol- Nesting Boxes
The boxes we use are vented in the back and when its warm or chicks are feathered, I remove one of the slides which causes a little more gap and better airflow through the box. This was the thread I posted, but its all a mute point really, seeing as we cant get our hands on them anymore :party0011: http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index....hl=plastic+nest - Watch Out Wa - I'm Coming To Perth!
