Phew What A Day
I bought Sunny from a different pet shop to the one that told me not to get another one - actually this one tried to talk me into buying 2! It was so hard to resist - a beautiful rainbow I will go to the pet shop tomorrow though and advise them of Sunny's illness, that is a great idea - thanks Lovey! Cheeta she did look so cute with her puffy face - she looked like a rolley dog! (a sharpae - not sure how to spell it) I tried so hard not to laugh, cause she looked so funny, I could see the funny side after the panic was over! Poor baby, she is fine now, scoffed down a big dinner, and pretty much back to her normal self. Still not too playful, and slightly puffy, but she should be find after a good nights sleep!

Phew What A Day
I had to take Frankie to the vet today for her shots, so I decided to book in with the avian vet for a check up for Sunny, as I wasn't happy with his breathing, and wanted a well bird check anyway. So Frankie went first, and the avian vet treats both birds and other animals, so Frankie gets a C3 shot, a squirt up the nose for a kennel cough vaccine and a microchip (poor baby - she cried - Frankie is my puppy By The Way for anyone reading this who might not have seen previous posts) The vet checked out Sunny thoroughly, took a sample of poop and observed him, and said he may have a respitory infection, so he prescribed some Psittavet Powder to mix in his water, and $150 later, we were on our way. I went straight home and Frankie was a bit uneasy, I thought sore from all the shots, so I tried to settle her down, but she wouldn't settle. She climbed into a basket of washing I was about to fold up and did a piddle on the clothes, I called out her name and she looked at me and her whole face had swollen up I grabbed the phone and called the vet, so they told me to bring her straight back, and said she has had a reaction to the injections. She had to have another two injections (she was so good) another $15 and we were on our way again. The swelling has started to go down now, but she is not a happy puppy at the moment At least now she wont have to have another one for a year. Here are some before and after pics Before - taken yesterday - 09/05/06 After - taken this afternoon after 2nd trip to the vet 10/05/06 And of course, one of Sunny, as he is featured in this story as well!! ***Mods if this should be in off topic please move it for me!! Thanks ***

Cats And Birds, Can They Mix?
I have a cat that sleeps most of the day anyway, so I let him sleep in the spare room. When the birds are locked in their cages, Rex (my cat) is allowed out of the bedroom, but he sleeps on the couch!! I would never leave him alone with the birds - he does look at them like lunch, but there are ways around managing them both. Rex has a bed in the laundry as well, and his kitty litter is there as well, and he is quite happy to lay on his bed in the sunshine all day! If he meow's to come out, then I will put Bobby away and spend time with Rex.

Friends...

Mr Chatterbox
It may be Baby boy - I wouldn't dare tell him off!!! I made the bridge by screwing little brass eye screws into the end of the little dowel pieces, then threading them onto some 2mm fencing wire, with about 6 plastic beads between each rung. Scott then cut a groove into the bottom of a piece of wood, and drilled 2 holes in each end, then threaded the fence wire through and folded it underneath. Then he just drilled the wooden blocks onto the base board. The 2mm fence wire is rigid enough and doesn't move at all! EASY!!

Picking Up New Budgies....
I have had one budgie for 5 months, and he is completely happy on his own, totally bonded to me. I just decided to get another budgies this weekend, purely because I work 12 hours a day, and thought that was too long for him to be alone. He talks and kisses and sits on my shoulder and head and so one. We will keep that bond now even after I introduce him to Sunny, and during quaranteen I will be able to train Sunny, so I have two bonded happy budgies, that can still spend time with me as well as each other! Good luck, can't wait to hear more about you new baby, and pics of course, we all love pics!!!

He say's I love you and Bobby and at the end he says budgie!! I love listening to him talk!!! http://media.putfile.com/Bobby-39 Let's see how this works! Yay it worked!!! Sorry about the bad quality - it was taken from my crappy video function on my digi camera!

Bobby Does The Cutest Things!
I just bought the new Black Eyed Peas CD, and put it on and started singing and dancing along (as you do when you're home alone! ) anyway, I danced my way over to Bobby who was sitting on the top of his cage, and he started bobbing along and dancing with me!! Oh it was so cute... Of course when I ran to get the camera to film it, he wouldn't do it again, but it was so sweet!!! Just thought i'd share! (how old am I again!!! )

Clicker Training Your Bird
Well I started the first phase of clicker training with Bobby, but didn't have a proper clicker, so used a click pen :(Laughing out loud): I was clicking then offering millet, he soon got tired of this and just jumped onto the hand holding the millet!!! Whoever said budgies weren't smart, didn't know what they were talking about!! Brilliant video Bea - thanks for sharing!!

"sweet Posing Pictures"
Thanks Lovey - I guess it's kind of hard to remember how they were when they first came home. I had a terrible time taming Bobby, then one day he just decided he liked me! I can tell things will be different with Sunny - for one I have so much more knowledge now, and also he is already letting me touch him and stepping up. I will let him determine his taming schedule!!!

"sweet Posing Pictures"
That sounds like me, I either have Bobby on my shoulder, or I am carting a cage around with me!! My house is very open planned with no doors closing off the living areas, so when Bobby is out, Sunny has to be locked in a bedroom I feel so bad when I lock him away! I can't wait till I can walk around with Sunny on my shoulder too! How long was it before you could take Merlin out of his cage??? (sorry to bombard you with Q's!)
-
"sweet Posing Pictures"
Oh they are so gorgeous!! How do you handle keeping them seperated, and still giving them heaps of time and attention?? Bobby is myffed he spent half his day in his cage today - if he knew it was because I was with ANOTHER budgie !!!

Introducing!
I get so excited when I go to talk to him Lovey! He is still very overwhelmed by the whole new place, people small cage etc, so I am giving him a couple of days to settle down before I shove a camera in his face!!! He will let me stroke his chest, and climbs onto my finger and stays there, but when I bought him out of his cage today he panicked, so I put him back and decided to wait a few more days! He is sooo beautiful, and you will get plenty of pics once he is more comfy! I think he likes baths too, he was all wet when I got home from the shops earlier, which suggests he was bathing in his water dish!!! I can't wait till they get to meet, I have already created a new ticker to count down the days!!! Funny Kirby, Chico was one of the other names I was toying with in my final decision! The other was Pinot but my husband didn't like that one - It was my fav!
