Does Anyone Wear Glasses?
I do, and lately Bobby's favourite game is to climb all over them and chew on them! He holds onto my hair and peers down into my glasses, upside down, so all I can see is this upside down budgie face. He has started sitting on the rims and playing with my eyelashes , and just before, he actually squeezed himself between my glasses and my face! :(Laughing out loud): It is the funniest feeling, and doesn't make it to easy to read the posts either!!! :hap:

Who Would've Guessed This Could Happen?!
Those beaks are sharp on soft ears!! Holly is the same, always staring at Bobby but bring him near her and tail goes down and she gets that scared look on her face (Oh no, don't bite me!) Sorry if this is a rude question, but is your mum sight impared or a guide dog trainer ??? (By The Way I love labs, Buffy is beautiful! :hap: airhead or not!)

Think Before You Introduce Your New Bird Without Quarantine Procedures
I was so sorry to read this Karen, it must have been a terrible experience for you to go through. I do have some questions, and I hope it doesn't bring back too many painful memories. Did the lutino that you bought show any symptoms of this disease after you had placed it in the avairy, did it survive and if you had quaranteened it, would it have appeared healthy for the entire period of quaranteen and the illness would not have been detected unless there was something to trigger it?? How could you prevent this from happening if a bird does carry the disease, but it isn't activated until further down the track, after quaranteen is over? I will always quaranteen my new birds when I establish my avairy, without a doubt, after reading this thread.

Going Away For Easter
Well we are back from our camping trip and we had a wonderful time!! Thank you everyone for your concerns but it really was a last resort and it worked out well. We found a lovely camping spot with a picnic table which was Bobby's favourite place for the whole weekend! He was never unsupervised and far enough away from the dogs so there was never any risk of the dogs getting near him. Our tent is two sections and Bobby slept in our room, and the dogs in the other! He had a blast... He sat and sang his little lungs out the whole weekend. I had a padlock on the cage and cable ties holding down all the feeders, and bought those food holders that you poke through the bars so we didn't have to open the cage at all. We all had a wonderful time! I took some happy pics of Bobby enjoying the great outdoors!! He loved the native eucalyptus leaves that kept him facinated, and notice the lock on the third picture... I kept the keys in the lock just in case of an emergency... Next time I will plan things a little more in advance and organise a sitter!! Oh he loved the car ride too... he sang and chattered the whole way there and home again, and is now settled in nicely at home.

Nasty Boy
Like a budgie biting your fingers when you are trying to type :(Laughing out loud): or hanging upside down in your face chewing your glasses!!!

Nasty Boy
Well by all of those accounts then Bobby is extremely tamed, as he does all of that. I guess I am probably a little jealous of the likes of Bea & Blinks, and Una & Apple, and Brokendreams with her tame budgies. Although I am extremely happy with the level of attention I get from Bobby, all I really want is for him to stop biting me!!! okay and a head scratch would be good too!!! :dbb1:

Maybe I am mis-interpreting how bonding works, I thought that if a budgie is bonded to you then they love you and let you touch them and things like that. Bobby will sit on my finger and that's it. He wont let me touch him, and when I try I get attacked. I also get attacked when I am holding food, trying to remove food dishes or even out of the blue because he's having a bad day He will quite happily sit on my finger for ages, and I talk to him and he cocks his head to the side, then he will climb all over me and even occasionally give me a kiss. So do I just have a bonded budgie who is also agressive. He has been like this ever since I've had him. The first couple of days I didn't know anything about budgies, he was an Xmas present and I was really excited. So before i had properly finger trained him, I let him out of the cage and he crashed, and had to be rescued. After that he wouldn't let me near him for ages, and that's when the biting started. Perhaps I encouraged it by reacting to the bites (some drew blood they were that hard)... I love him to bits and he CAN be very sweet, but he is so Jeckyl & Hyde that I never know when I will be bitten... I think I will save up for a bigger cage and then get a friend for him, would you suggest a male or female???

Going Away For Easter
Feel like a trip down to Ballarat for the weekend??? If I do end up taking him, I would leave his cage locked up in the tent while we were out, he would only be outside under strict supervision, and always in a locked cage. I would only open the cage for food & water etc when in the tent with all zipped up tight. I will be asking someone I know tomorrow if she wouldn't mind looking after him for me, otherwise HE WILL be coming along... He doesn't stress out when we move, he quite likes the car actually!!

Going Away For Easter
How am I supposed to be a responsible pet owner when my husband refuses to be... We just had the biggest arguement because he doesn't want to take him, he reckons he will be fine URGH MEN... I don't want to leave him alone I don't feel safe doing so, how would he feel if something happened while we were away

Going Away For Easter
This is a last minute trip that we just planned, that is why it's suddenly come up now! It's about 3 or 4 hours drive. I would love to take him with me, but camping in the outdoors - is it safe??? I do have a travel cage and I think it would be a hoot taking a budgie camping!! My husband thinks I'm being stupid when I suggested it, he thinks it's fine to leave him with heaps of food and water, but I was uncomfortable leaving him home for 2 days, let alone 4... I might take him with me, does anyone think it's a bad idea??? I only just moved to this house and I don't know the neighbours at all, so I definately don't trust them with my house keys (especially the ones to the left, loud cars mess everywhere - don't seem very desirable!)

Going Away For Easter
We are going away camping for the Easter long weekend, and will be leaving tomorrow night (Thursday) and not coming home until Monday afternoon. Will Bobby be okay by himself for that long? What else could I do??? Any suggestions - I don't have any friends or family close by who could look after him for me....

Nasty Boy
Did this help Coco stop biting??? Thanks for the advice everyone, I was told that if I got him a friend, he would stop talking is this true???
