I thought as a once off to help me taming him, as I was having difficulties getting him to bond with me (see my post in budgie behaviours - titled training troubles) I have been following the advise I was given in response to that post and have decided to not have his wings clipped. I would never even consider it if I thought it would permantly stop him from flying as I agree with you, and wing clipping would have been a last resort if I didn't succeed in training him with the other methods.

Hi everyone I have been a member for a few days posted a couple of topics, so I thought I should introduce myself properly. My name is Sherrie and I live in Ballarat, near Melbourne in Australia. I got my first budgie Bobby as a much wanted Christmas gift from my husband, and am absolutely besotted. I can't wait to get home every night to spend time with him!! We have had a few teething problems but with the help of this forum, we are slowly starting to bond, and he brings so much joy. I really enjoy this forum, I am starting to become a bit addicted!!! Thanks Lovey (I love your user name ) How old is Pretty? - He is a gorgeous bird! Do you know how often they moult???

When I got Bobby at Christmas, the pet shop said he was 10 weeks old, so that would make him close to 5 months now. Do budgies start their first moult at 5 months (I think he may be cause their are feathers everywhere!! ) Should I wait until he has moulted before getting his wings clipped, and how long is it usually between moults??? Thanks

I wonder if they are fussy about the type of eucalyptus leaves they eat.... or if any old branch will do!!!
