  1. He didn't actually say where the infection was, :ausb: I was too busy thinking OMG my baby's sick to ask specifics :bluebudgie: All I asked was why this had happened - hence the guilt trip! The vet did praise me though for bringing him in at the first sign of the illness! He loves his new toy, It's his new favourite! Holly is happy too cause she has her rope back! :(Laughing out loud):
  2. Well Bobby is back from his vet visit and he has an infection :ausb: The doc has put him on Baytril, only 1 drop a day, and has prescribed rest and warmth and a stress free environment. I feel really guilty and feel like I have made him sick, I made him have a bath the other day and he hated it (but he did smell bad) and I went away for the weekend and even though we left plenty of food, water and toys for him maybe he was upset being at home alone. So I went and bought him a new toy to help him on his road to recovery, and hopefully he will get better soon. :bluebudgie: Oh I nearly forgot to mention, the vet was wonderful, he is an avian vet and he really knew how to handle him and what to do, he asked me heaps of questions and told me that Bobby was a good bird!! (even though he bit him!!) I was very impressed and pleased with his service!
  3. I have noticed that Bobby's poops are a bit runny, and he has been quite puffy and sleepy lately. He still loves his seed but doesn't seem interested in lettuce or snow peas which he normally loves. Also he has stopped chattering away which he normally does contstantly (even in his sleep!) I discovered that the vet I usually take my pets too has an avian specialist, so I have an appointment at 2:00pm for a check up.... wish me luck!
  4. Not sure about the mutation, but he is gorgeous!!! Platinum would be a perfect name for him though!!!
  5. They are so gorgeous! They actually look like they are smiling!! :(Laughing out loud): I love the second last picture, the one at the front sitting on it's butt with its legs poking out :dbb1: What a crack-up!!!!

  17. How many budgies did you hide under your jumper from the beautiful new avaries??? I bet the pictures don't do them real justice do they! :dbb1: I am glad to hear she is doing well. Thanks for the update Lin.
  18. All right Bea - 2 hours past appointment time.... What did the doc say??? :dbb1:
  19. Oh Budgiebird I hope she will be okay. I know it's not the same but my mum had a dog that went blind, and after a short transition period she was fine, she would run through the house and out the doggy door, and if you didn't know you wouldn't think there was anything wrong, mum just made sure that she kept everything in the same place and she could find her way around. I think that this would be the case for most animals that are domestic. She may rely on you a touch more and in time she will trust you. Might I suggest if she doesn't regain her site to have her wings clipped, so she doesn't try to fly out of instinct?? My thoughts are with you and I hope she recovers soon. :angel1:

Chase the budgie - that's a fun game for them I know it well :(Laughing out loud): I was contemplating getting Bobby's wings clipped to help me with training, as it was suggested to me when I first joined the forum, and I asked exactly the same questions as you. :ausb: They only cut a few of their flight feathers when their wings are clipped, so they are not completetly flightless, but they can flutter to the ground and keep themselves safe from falling etc... Their new flight feathers come back when they moult, so you could have them clipped just so he will get used to you, and then decide later if you would prefer to let them grow back or keep them clipped. I was sort of lucky in the end that Bobby started to tame, he must have read my thoughts! :dbb1:

Keep talking to him as you move your hand closer, I found that when Bobby was moving away from me I would keep talking and talking about anything and everything, and he would cock his little head to the side and then move closer. He started to really respond better to training now, and when he sits on my finger, if he jumps off I start talking (we've had great conversations about the weather ) and he tends to stay on my finger.
  23. and how much did they charge you for this insightful visit... I hope custard gets the proper treatment she deserves and is better soon.
