Hi - I'm New...
Welcome, you can start with our FAQ section on Breeding Budgies. The most important part of breeding is what will you do with the babies? Where will they go? Do you keep them or do you find GOOD homes for them. There are many budgies breeders...and too many birds. Budgies will breed when you give them the right condition but it doesn't mean they should...it is not a 1,2,3 snap and you have babies. A lot of people have beginners luck but you must know what the risks are and what could happen and be as prepared as possible (I know no one can be fully prepared). Explore why do you want to breed budgies? For your pleasure and you keep the babies or find good homes? breed for good healthy chicks? Working toward showing your budgies? All these things combined and more should really be considered before you set out to breed. Again there is a lot of good information in the FAQ that is where I would start reading.

Why Do You Think He Is Moulting?
I speak for my inside bird and have heard a lot of people say the same thing that they seem to be clean of a molt for a couple months and then then are back at molting again, I believe it has a lot to do with the artifical hearing and cooling in our homes.

Spangle To Pied Pairing
Masking is covering up a gene that would normally be see if that gene didn't erase the markings. Example, ino gene can erase the marking of a a recessive pied so the bird could be a rec. pied and ino. The gene is still expressed it just that the ino gene has erased the markings on the birds in this case it is the double factor spangle doing the erasing. For this bird it would be considered a Ino Recessive Pied (because it is a recessive pied because it has 2 rec. pied genes) Split means that the recessive gene would NOT be expressed unless the bird was carrying 2 recessive genes. So the bird is not a recessive pied only split. So whatever is dominant is what the bird is example Double Factor Spangle Split to Recessive Pied.

Spangle To Pied Pairing
Liv a double factor spangle can not mask what series they are in so if it is a white DF then it is in the blue series if it is a yellow it is in the green series. Unless you meant that they could mask the dark factors and the violet gene which of course is true.

I would say no because if it did many of our advanced breeders would proably do it but lets see what they say. There are many benefits though to Apple Cider and I know that Neat had posted the article on BBC.

Anxiety!
Time is very important with a budgie and a month is nothing in terms of taming especially if you are taking the steps too quickly which it sounds like to me. It sounds like your budgie has a lot of anxiety and is fearful. I assume his wings are clipped and this is why he will do what he does because he really can't fly away? Also for safety concerns it is not recommended for budgies to be walking around on the ground they can easily get stepped on and injured and pick up dirt or garbage that is not good for them. I am sure that there will be someone that comes on and says I do it all the time and nothing has happened so each their own just my opinion. Have you read over the Taming Article in our FAQs, it is really informative and there are great steps in there. Some birds will tame quicker then others some it takes months but the key is to go the birds pace, taming a bird is not a quick process and many will give up because they can't do it in a month. Grabbing, forcing to do your bird to do things (not that you are) will decrease the bond. Keeping your bird in the cage next to you a lot where he feels safe, offering millet or treats that they like to eat, talking to them through the cage is an excellent way to bond. Birds are not dogs they don't like hands they see them as prey.

Bird Breeding Mills
I am sure it is prevelant everywhere MB and it is sickening. I have yet to come across a bird miller here where I am but I am sure they are here, it is probably more prevelant in the warmer states.

The Sale Of Unweaned Birds
Here in the U.S. they have been cracking down, I know there was a I believe large chain store that did sell an unweaned larger bird and it died it did put people into action. You will find unweaned babies at the pet stores too, most of them are your cockatiels and the larger birds but I am sure it is found in budgies also. The best thing you can do is evalulate your breeder or pet shop before purchasing and we have 2 excellent articles in the FAQ's that were written up to assist you. Excellent article Kaz.

Anxiety!
Panting, spreading his wings...are also a sign of anxiety and complete fear Are you sure he is vomiting? Maybe I missed another post where this was being talked about? If he is not sick it sounds like you are going way too fast on the taming especially taking him outside.

Baby Duck With Budgies?
My point here is that it is OFF TOPIC for the post and the original question has replies that have quite strayed from what was asked. Not that it needs to be in the OFF TOPIC section which I understand it is already is in. If we want to talk about licenses further, education, what you were born to do we can split the post and start a new post in OFF TOPC because it has nothing to do with the original question. Thank you for understanding :budgiedance: Please update and let us know how everything is going.
