Mystery Illness
Have you ruled out enviromental issues in your home? Candles Air Freshners Any Painting Recently Temp. in the room warm enough? Going through a molt and then getting sick? Tephlon being used in the home strong cleaners? Nutritional Deficiency - Usually Vitamin A I did research on this very topic because my own bird died of a respiratory infection, I relate mine to being the room was too cold and he was going through a molt which decreased his immunity and I caught it too late, he was fine in the morning and by evening he was gone. There are many reasons... I would check the above.

2 Females Nesting In The Same Box?
Yes you are asking for trouble. I assume you are not breeding you just put it in there for sleeping quarters? Birds don't need nests to sleep (at least budgies don't) nests are only for breeding purposes in their minds. If they are young they will cuddle up in the nesting box reverting back to their young behavior but as they get older and start to get hormonal they will get territorial and you may find one of your hens bloody or dead. Hens can get very nasty during molting and breeding season. Remove the box. By the way, good question, glad you asked it.

Anyone Got Any Halfsider Pics?
This goes off topic, but I would suggest NOT posting pictures from other websites on your posts they could be copyrighted and could land you into trouble. PUtting that it is copy righted doesn't means it is okay.

Lost My Little One
- Over Amorous Budgie
In all seriousness, you don't have to get him a friend just so he can mate that would not be a good reason to get another budgie and certainly not a good reason to have eggs. What you can do is decrease his daylight hours for a couple weeks by keeping his cover on for 12-14 hours. You can also rearrange his toys around, have him use his brain and forage for food (we have 2 wonderful links on that) and then if you don't like it don't offer your finger. My theory is that your nail is similar to a budgie beak and that is why they do flirt, my Merlin does it too but I don't let it get out of control. You can play with him with different toys to keep his mind redirected from doing these types of things.- How Do I Stop Annoying Birds Getting Into My Cage?
Can you post a picture of your cage? Are sparrows that much smaller then budgies? If then can get in can the budgies get out?- Worse Day Ever

big hugs to you, sounds like she lived a wonderful life...I think everyone would like to go this way without suffering. I will keep you and your family in our prayers as you grieve...- Some Questions
to get my birds to eat their veggies it was probably a 3 month process but what I did is remove the bird seed at night and in the morning I would chop all the food they wouldn't eat and then I would mix and sprinkle the top lightly with seed I did this for 3 months on a regular basis and both would eat their good and sticky type of foods too. At first they will pick off all the seeds but gradually you will see they will get stuff stuck on the beak and ineventably they will end up eating it and realizing it is not bad. It is time consuming and you may waste food but it is worth it. Also the FAQ section has great ideas under the Nutrition Section.- Some Of My Wierd Birds
splat if you haven't you really need to decide which one to enter for this months Budgie of the Month they are such awesome pics, I love the one with his head down on the perch but the preening ones are awesome too....picking one to submit will be hard (a contest in it self)- Worse Day Ever
AV ((((HUGS)))- Is He A Boy Or A Young Man
moving toys around and giving them a different view of things 1x a week in the beginning helps behaviors like this also increasing his cover time to 12-14 hours for a couple weeks will decrease the hormone levels and throw them out of the extreme flirty stage that he is in right now.- Budgies And Cockatiels

the beak layers are normal most likely from rubbing his beak on different objects to keep it conditioned I agree he is a cock around 4-6 months of age and the mutation Kaz said, he is gorgeous.- Worse Day Ever
