very sad, he is gorgeous.- Second Budgie?
When you get a 2nd budgie your first budgie if he has a good bond with you will continue that bond but not as strong. When I had Pretty he was certainly more friendlier to me and was actually the more say dominant one in the relationship. Merlin always followed Pretty's lead but Merlin did not bond to me even with the 30 day quarantine after that was over he was Pretty's birdy not mine lol. After Pretty passed we have now formed a bond. What I would expect here is that Krosp will stay bonded with you to a certain degree not like it is now because he has someone else to share his love plus it is someone of his own species, the 2nd bird will most likely stay bonded to Krosp and will follow his lead. Is getting a 2nd budgie a good idea I say absolutely as long as you are okay with what could potential will happen. Krosp is bonded enough with you that you wouldn't loose it all that is what I found out with Pretty and Merlin.- To Give Medicine Or Not ?
Did you have your avian vet x-ray your bird many times immobility of the foot is not due to arthritis but a tumor inside this is a common cause. Please note, I didn't say she has a tumor but should be ruled out. It can only be ruled out by x-ray because the breastbone makes it impossible for a vet to push in and find these sorts of things like in a dog. This is exactly what my avian vet said why x-rays are recommended.- My New Clearwings
very nice Dave, congrats.- New Member
welcome to the forums, glad to have you here.- My Birds' Diet
Get rid of the celery that causes running poos and get kale he will most likely convert to that easier, then once you do that you can chop of food for him daily and sprinkle his seed on it (take out the regular seed at night) so in the morning he is hungry give him the veggie and seed mix it is okay if he only eats the seed that is normal after a couple weeks you will probably see that he will start trying other foods too that it is mixed with.- Update On Louie
- Update On Louie
okay...call me a pain but they did they do any tests on Louie? Like a poop smear to make sure there were no organisms in his poop? Doing a general exam with the eye is not good enough and getting runny poops from the seed I could see for a couple days but not longer...- I'm Moving...

If you want to stop the behavior or decrease it keep him covered for a couple extra hours for a week or so it should help the behavior- Beginner Budgie Keeper
I suggest getting 2 boys too if you don't want to breed they are more apt not to bite (not that they won't) are usually more chatty and may talk (not that a female won't), also with females there are cases that you have to worry about laying eggs or getting egg bound. This is my opinion . As for the kids how old are they? Make sure when you get the birds you know that in the end you will of course be the main caregiver and if the kids are younger and jerky that you need to get your budgies used to them ASAP because birds will tend to run from little hands that grab, kids that can't sit still etc.... (not that any of this applies to you...just putting it out there).- I Need Advice Asap
Thought I would love to believe what Finnie posted my gut instinct tells me what everyone else posted don't trust them and take him to the vet yourself, even if they don't reimburse you for the bird because it is not within the policy. In your heart in the end you have to determine how attached you are and what you feel is best in this situation. Everyone can say I won't give him back, someone will say they will...you do what you feel you can deal with in the end.- Had My First Exam Today!
I am sure you did excellent!!- Purchasing A 'winter' Budgie!
I agree with MB never heard of such a thing. We have an article in our FAQ called "How to Evalulate a Breeder" and "How to Evaluate a Pet Store" excellent reads and that should help point you in the right direction on purchasing your new feathered friend.- Baby Rainbow Lorikeet
maybe because it was assumed that it was a pet lorikeet vs a wild? Who knows...- Baby Rainbow Lorikeet
Questions regarding health and support etc. of other animals besides budgies will be removed. However, feel free to post about your other pets with images etc. I am not going to remove it but the best thing you can do for this bird is get it to an Avian Vet ASAP this is where your best help will be personal in person help will be better then any internet forum at this point. Keep it in a cage, warm, covered on all sides and ring the vet, if the vet is closed run to the store and get lorikeet food as BP advised above and get him in when the avian vet opens so he can be examined for any illness, worms etc... Good luck. - Second Budgie?
