A better picture but I am leaning toward female right now.
  7. According to what I have you will get 75% DEC and 25% Recessive Pieds if you have a 2 Dark Eyed Clears with single factor clear gene. d-f clearflight pied budgie split for rec. pied and a recessive pied budgie would give you a higher % of 50% DEC and 50% Clearflight pieds A dark-eyed clear budgie (with s-f clearflight) and a recessive pied budgie again is 50% DEC BUT 50% recessive pieds df = double factor In fact go to http://www.budgieplace.com/c_dec.html and click on genetics you can read all about it :budgiedance:

I quess my question to you is are you asking should you be knowledgable before you start? The answer to that question is as much as possible. Breeding budgie is simple the outcomes are not always favorable. There can be deformed beaks, legs can be splayed, the hen or cock could attack the babies, the hen or cock could decide not to feed the babies. Would you know what to do? Are you willing to vet the babies if necessary? It is a matter of responsibility and knowledge. Through experience you will learn alot but it is advise to be armed with knowledge, what would you do answers if they happen. There have been many a first clutches that are successful and many that have failed. Are you willing to stay up and hand feed and this needs to be 3 hours in the beginning. Do you have those resources. I am not trying to be a downer but you asked should I just put them together and this is my opinion not until you have a plan in place. Oh and the babies are to be pets, yours, or do you have homes in mind. If not do you know how to find GOOD home not just homes but homes where you know they will not be throw away pets. There is so much more then just putting a boy and girl together.

  16. you may want to PM karen (that is her user name) she breed lutino/ino's :ausb:. Violets are bit on the slight side, hath replied to another post about breeding for size so they are not desired to use when you are looking for size. Recessives tend to be slight too so they are not used to increase the size. As for increasing the color intensity I don't have a clue to be honest and would have to do some reading up to find out the answer. I suggest going to the PINNED topics in the show section, find lutino/albino spec and ask this same question under that post. I believe you will get more of a response there as some members only read limited posts. :hap:
  17. I am sure someone who has been through this will be better at answering this. But mostly what I have read people with sick birds will get a liquid antibiotic to put in the birds mouth. The vet will tell you the correct dose to give. The injections I have only read about for mites. But I may be wrong.
  18. that is a great name :ausb:
