  7. I think it is incredible how much the YF2 gene changes the coloring of the bird. They are gorgeous Shawna
  8. Elly replied to Shawna's topic in Budgie Pictures
Oh that is great and Pretty started to talk to the video
  9. Shawna same weather here and I keep mine at the same temp and they are okay. It is the drafts and the quick increase up and down temps that are more harmful
  10. Good point Karen, since we are not hot (Laughing out loud) I didn't even think about that. You know I live in Ohio and my birds do well without anything extra it may be something you want to consider. We keep our home about 60 in the night and 65-68 during the day, because the gas prices are so high. We deal with the same exact weather in fact we give it to you after we had it :grbud:. So maybe a heater is not essential for them.
  11. :grbud: poor thing she is going to have to go to birdie counseler like my Merlin :ausb:
  12. excellent advice Turbs and I do hope you follow the advice as budgies are fragile and you may be lucky and she may really be okay but if she is not that will be something you may have to struggle with "I could have done something".

  14. being that mauve is just 2 dark factors would it not make the bird slate or a very dark grey in a blue bird Hurdy?

  16. Elly replied to *Nerwen*'s topic in Breeders Discussion
Well all this is interesting and my head is spinning and they are not even my birds but I can't wait to see the results
  17. Per Karen aka Bubbles (I asked her) Where the backline of the bird isnt straight and around the rump area the tail bends forwards in towards the perch
  18. April is a full bodied greywing Cobalt May now looks like a Dark Eyed Clear Gina looks like a Dominant Pied Olive June green recessive pied Rainbow the picture is still too blurry Chevy recessive pied violet possible dilute Big Fellow olive green normal LBB skyblue Opaline These are my answers I am sure others will come in and add
  19. there will be no recessives unless you know that both parents are carrying the recessive pied gene and then you have a 25% chance.
  20. If your male is NOT split for ino 100& normals and males would be split for INO. If your male IS split for ino Males: 50% Ino 50% Normal split to INO Females: 50% Ino 50% Normal (not split because it is not possible) If your lutino is split for blue then you will have blue babies but if not all the babies will be green. Your blue looks like a full body greywing. Which means he is carrying the clearwing and the greywing gene and they are expressed as a full body greywing. So to get any grey, clear, or full bodies the ino needs to have a any one of these genes (or the dilute gene) since the normal gene is dominant to all these mutations. If that makes sense or clear as MUD (Laughing out loud). Of course you can have surprises of recessive genes if both birds are carrying them such as a recessived pied (example). Hope that helps.
