Ahh thats cool... I've thought about putting open rings on the other legs of birds like that... maybe it would be just as easy to put it on the program...

I used Birdrec when I had my budgies and when I get back into it I will use it again. I also used to sell the product along with Budgen and The Show Manager.

I tried the Budgerigar program but there was something about it that I did not like but can't remember what it was. I looked at Birdtracker but decided that unless I get lots of different birds it would be a waste of time and money.

Currency conversion at present is:

Budgerigar Program US$75.00 = AUS$107.97

Bird Rec AUS$119.00 = US$82.66

I've made my decision and have dropped Bird Tracker and have gone completely with The Budgerigar Program.

You have to be careful downloading and/or using some older programs if you are running Windows Vista. I had a good ol chinwag with Ken Yorke (Birdrec designer) last week and he told me that as a computer programmer he and others find it more difficult to write programs for Vista. You can split ya computer up and run two different windows. My new computer has had trouble when using older programs so I use my older one which I still have. On the older computer I run windows 98 (for gaming purposes as Age of Empires runs best on '98) and it also runs Windows XP.

I have tried this 3 times now from the megaupload.com site & always have the same result, I get the TBP2006DEMO.exe file, when I run that I get a message "MDB Browser and Editor Setup was completed successfully". Nowhere am I able to find a budgerigar program.

Can you let me know, at all, what I am missing? I'd be really happy for any assistance.

Is anyone aware of an active link for downloading/purchasing The Budgerigar Program ? The geocities host no longer exists and the road runner link is broken.

Hi Everyone,

Are people still using this Budgerigar program or is Yorke's Birdrec program better.

I had a quick look at the Budgerigar program website , last update was 2006. Has there been a later update?

Any feedback would be appreciated

Wayno

I use and sell Birdrec (Ken Yorke's) program. I personally reckon Birdrec is the better program and is continually improved and updated.

Do you know if they have a trial version you can download to see if you like it?

I?m one that always uses books and cards for record keeping until I thought, I have an old 166mhz pc that wasn?t in use and there must be good programs out there that completely manage budgie records. To my success I found one rather quickly entitled "The Budgerigar Program"

Now, this isn?t a free program, it costs $55.00 US dollars for a new installation, BUT there is a trial version (I?m using it) that will hold up 200 records for free. Plenty for some members here. But if you want more, you will have to pay. Its worth it! It does nest box cards, calculations and all kinds of cool stuff! (also allows you to snap a photo of your bird and enter it with your records if wanted.

As mentioned, the Budgerigar Program is very comprehensive. All manner of reports can be run, ranging from simple inventory listings by sex, variety and colour through to preferred pairings and common ancestry. The Budgerigar Program calculates inheritance levels, provides breeding records and generates pedigree charts. Each of these may be viewed on the screen or printed. Other extremely useful features include the provision to score each bird against the "Ideal" in the various areas such as Colour, Size, Deportment, Mask and Spots etc. In theory, this would allow the fancier to do his pair selection without actually looking at the birds themselves - not something I think I would recommend. Feather type is also included as a separate category against each bird.

Some Screenshots:

Here

Take a look at it at this link

and if you want to download the 200 max record trial version (doesnt expire, just alows a max of 200 records of budgies) you can get that here

The link did not work for me, but I found the software here.

Does anyone know how to get in contact with Jeff stone to purchase a full copy of the Budgerigar program?

Or is there an equivalent program people are using now?

This link doesn't work either... That's what I'm wondering. Google itself gives these links, and then they are not available. Well at least some explanation or a link where you can look.
