Oh I dont know Bea it never gets warm enough in this country to use air conditioning. To be honest I dont know anyone that has it, must be nice when its really hot though.

He has been great although obviously not as strong as the others still and probably wont be in the flying category but he prefers spinach to seed how good is that. I will be sure to sing loud for him Anne I arent holding much hope on the seed treat being there tonight hehe!

With Candy he used to get a full bowl of seed and I gradually reduced the amount on the bowl by about 1mm a day until now he only gets half a bowl, I also firstly cut millets sprays in half until he gradually got none. I upped the amount of veggies he got to well loads of different ones. He lost over 10g on this diet and is not allowed millet and the odd seed treat - in fact a huge one today because its his first birthday today!

Its a firm favourite with all my budgies, mine eat it dry and I agree with Lin they prefer it over the seed.
  6. Well good news I would say. I have been giving Barnslee the ACE High for 4 days now in his seed. This morning for the first time EVER I saw him preen his tail and tummy WITHOUT plucking a single feather. This I think is brilliant. I need to get him to eat veggies now though I dont want to be giving him the ACE all the time. He has a vets appointment on Thursday for the Giardia test too.
  7. These are both fine I offer them to mine some of them love them some of them dont but they aren fine to give.

Pixie I only seem to find the US version with corn mix, Im wondering if I could use a regular muffin mix and add seeds and veggies and make them as buns. Would that work do you think?

Thanks a bunch Terri he is booked in for a week today I guess I will try the ACE today but hold off on spraying him with the stuff. This does help, does it say whether its contagious because Charlie or any of the budgies have never plucked or itched more than usual.

Yes never big feathers, the under side of both his wings where he would rest his head when he is asleep. Also sometimes his tummy - he isnt at all bald there though and very rarely the tops of his legs, mainly the wings though.

I will try it once and do Charlie at the same time so its not just him. Yep thats why I never find any feathers he eats them. Like I said its only teen ones he plucks not big ones, thats why I never find the evidence. I was watching him do it last night.

Hmmm I never thought of that I could dissolve them in their bath spray and give him a little spray, thats a good idea, he doesnt preen to often he just plucks but he eats the feathers so he wil eat the vitamin - good idea.

Its stodgy he wont eat anything stodgy, he wont eat anything other than seed or millet, I put vitamin drops in his seed yesterday and he just ate millet and out of another seed pot he didn''t know that contained drops too. It worries me he is eating Charlies poop thats why I think its a vitamin thing.

The vitamins are really for Barnslee Terri who doesnt eat any fruit or veggies at all. The budgies all eat, spinach, carrots with the tops on, sugar snap peas, apple, melon and brocoli - thats is in fact 6! I was only going too add a really small amount in the budgies egg mix. The tiels were really getting it. Im worried because Ive smelt the ACE and it smells and Im worried Barnslee now wont eat the food I put it in.

I use Trill and Ive had no problems, I add a pinch of jungle munchies to each bowl and they then have Cede budgie egg mix with some other brand egg molting mix. Tonight however Im going to give them all a boost for the winter and give all my birds a weeks course of ACE High in their food also. I want to see for myself this wonder vitamin! Oh not to forget to add, that they each get 5 different kinds of fruit and veggies given twice a day too!

Not for thanksgiving as Im English but it will be Candys first birthday on Tuesday so I will be making some sort of birdie bread and seed treats for them all to have.
  17. Thanks Anne. Ive ordered ACE High from Parrot 24 should arrive tomorrow so I will start him on it straight away. How often should I give it? Ive rang the vets and cant have an appointment until next Thursday, the avian vet is on holiday. Ive taken the appointment but in the meantime, I will try some vitamin stuff and try harder with new foods. I tried the budgies egg mix this morning he spat it out but I guess I will have to wait till I get home to see if he has touched it. Anne the Aloe Vera oil where did you get it? Also obviously it doesnt harm them when they preen afterwards and get it in their mouths?
  18. Thanks guys. If any of you remember when I got Barnslee he was at that dirty pet shop and I decided to rescue him. All I know or was told at least is that he was around 7 months old and had 2 previous owners. He was plucking in the petshop so I think its been going on for sometime. I got some Johnsons Vitamin drops until I get something better but Ive added it to all my birds food and everyone of them have eaten from the pots that contain it so thats at least something. I should take him to the vets but I wanted to try and determine the cause myself before I did the last time I took him REALLy stressed him out. Ive treated them all for mites so thats not the problem. Plus he only plucks the tiny feathers and eats them never any bigs ones - his wing and tail feathers are in perfect condition as can see.
  19. I know this is regarding one of my tiels but it would be the same for budgies I thinkg. Ive bee told feather plucking could be a sign of a deficiency. Also Barnslee has recently been eating Charlies poop (gross I know). He doesnt and wont eat any fruit and veggies although offered every days. I really want to help him stop plucking and would like to try some sort of vitamin with him. Can anyone recommend what I could start him off on?

Believe it or not I use eye make up remover cotton wool pads for wiping wounds or messy vents, they they are less messy and soft for the birdies and a huge pack over here only costs around 70p.

I also have good news on the budgie version, both Patty and Max love both the apple harvest and the veggie delight, the others have yet to be converted but even if one of them eats it its good enough for me.

One of my budgies Tobi is totally smitten with 2 of my tiels, the other one is only into humans. The tiels arent so fond of her they make growling noises and try to bite her I NEVER leave them all out unsupervised although I dont think they would eat her she could get hurt. Please never house them together although playtime supervised can be great fun for them. Ask my Tobi she sits on their cage waiting for them to come out even when her boyfriend Max is out, he gets dumped when its tiel time hehe!
  23. Dont you need to bake it to dry the sap inside too?
  24. Sorry Paddles. I cant help thinking why your hubby woouldnt let you take him to the vets? Does he let you take any of your birds to the vet if they are sick?
