The out of cage tim definitely helps. I once had 3 budgies sharing and it was madness one got picked on the whole time so I decided to get another to even things out. Things were no better and they had to be housed seperately. Luckily things have caled a little and they are okay together at play time but they are still housed 2 to each cage and probably will be forever. Just be prepared for that in case they start fighting. I really hope they dont and they are all GORGEOUS!
  3. That is unless your bird is a recessive pied and if so wont get an iris ring at all. Ive got an 8 month old budgie who as far as I am aware isnt a pied anything but she still isnt showing any signs of an iris ring coming through which is a real mystery, unless she has some sort of recessive in her genes. I have no idea why the ring hasnt appeared at all.

I see where your coming from Terri but Im out of the house for almost 11 hours a day. Everyday I offer a small tub of pellets, 2 small seed bowls mixed with pellets, egg mix and a small tub of jungle munchies, of course with 4 different fruit and veggies. But when I come home from work thats there time out so they dont even bother with food for those 2 and a half hours and of course I cant possibly leave them with just pellets for the whole day.

Im going through this problem with Tobi too although hers seem to be better now. I think her problem is not enough fluids or veggies as the vet also cant find anything wrong with her. Sometimes Tobi doesnt get any water before bed and almost certainly all her poops ate stuck the next morning. Try some more fluidy foods and see if that helps at all.

Well Ive had more progress this time for sure and Tobi even eats the out of choice only because she is greedy. My tiels on the other hand wont touch them or go within flying distance of them hehe!

I change my birds seed everyday too. I also add a few Harrisons pellets to the seed. Oh and Pixie I dont know if they are actually eating them but they are eating from the pot Ive placed them in which is something they would never do whether it contained their seed aswell. So this is a start at least !

Sounds to me that the variation of diet now and her being more active with having a cage mate has seen the weight fall and 11 grams since August isnt drastic loss. Ive had a bird lose more on a diet. But like everyone says keep an eye on her for other symptons but to me its sounds quite normal.
  10. Fantastic news about Cheeky. Im so glad he is okay.

Bobby and Candys cage. This will easily house 4 budgies but I only have 2 in it because the four cant behave and they fight so cant be trusted to live together. I love this cage. This is 2 of my tiels home but I believe you can get the spacing in budgie sized too. This is the terrible two, Tobi and Max's cage. This one was from Pets At Home and was £50 I think. I love the big opening door and they love playing on it too. This tiel cage I believe can also be purchased in budgie sized spacing.
  12. Well as long as you keep a really close eye on his poops as its the first sign of illness and especially with Cheekys age too, any slight change and please take him. Glad they seem better though.
  13. How is Cheeky today?
  14. I would take him to be on the safe side. It came out that nothing was wrong with my bird and his poops still arent completely normal but I keep a close eye on them at all times like you should with Cheeky. Is the colour of them normal and do they form the normal shape with added water around thats what mine was like - my birds not mine obviously hehe!
  15. I know Cheeky is a good age isnt he about 7 if I remember? Maybe the sudden change in diet after all that time had made his poops a bit off and maybe the if he is drinking the bathing water is causing the extra water. I know this is a bit gross but is there any chance of getting a picture of the poops. I had trouble with one of mine and poops and just wondered if it was anything similar.

Tobi seems to be improving a little. Last night she flew for the first time in days. Not very far but she managed across to the tiels cage at the other side of the room. She also preened her Max which she hasnt been interested in for a while and she played with some toys and bit me which is her normal self. Also her bottom was clear of poo this morning, the first time in weeks. The vet ruled out a tumour and egg bound. She is on Baytrill for another 4 days, for her breathing which doesnt seem to be quite as fast this morning. Sooo all in all my baby girl is doing a bit better. All keep praying this improves even more and I get my nasty girl back!

Oh right thanks Anne. I do feed parsley to them now and again. I hope its a good thing I will ask tomorrow when she goes. Oh and nope she isnt at all happy about going she bites the vet and me hard every time. She is a nasty little thing but I sooooooo want her better and be able to fly again too.

Poop tests where all clear and her poop looks fine, I check everyone she does. She has a lump Terri well its more of a swollen area around her stomach area and its not an egg, but unsure as to what it actually is. Its a hard area. The vets not entirely sure if its something or it isnt. She goes back on Friday for yet another check up to see how things are coming along. He is an avian vet yes. She is a very difficult little girl - Tobi not the vet hehe!

Terri she has been back and forth to the vets this past 3 weeks and this is a good vet (he is on TV) but I am still however waiting on results for another problem she may or may not have, but thats tumour related and if it occurs she has one its not near her bowel anyways.

Tobi's poop problem has come back. Her poops are again normal but are not dropping and gathering around her botty. So of course she is scratting again and making herself sore. Im pretty sure its because she isnt getting enough fluid which is making them dry. So this morning her cage looks like a jungle as Ive put that much veg in, she has today carrot tops, carrots, apple, brocoli, parsley and spianch. Now that SHOULD make her have a looser poop if nothing else. Any other suggestions?

Arghh hope they dont because all my other perches are those wooden ones. How do you get all your 10 birdies to the vets Anne to you take them altogether?
  22. Boomberry replied to a post in a topic in Budgie Safety
My budgies dont eat the cuttlefish but they do the calcium perches. I only have one high up and Candy is the only one who really sits on it to sing (his singing perch) suppose he will be able to sing to me on wood though hehe.

Oh thats scary I will have to get new perches tomorrow as Ive had my a while and they all chew on them.
  24. Boomberry replied to a post in a topic in Budgie Safety
Better than any highly expensive courses birds eh hehe!

Me neither and all my budgies have 2 perches each. I cant take them out tonight as Ive nothing to replace them with but I guess I'll go get some more natural wood perches for Miss Tobi to rip the bark off! For Feathered Pets: I got the strawberry one from your store - do you know if this is one thats applicable?
