If i gave Ozzie a spoon in his cage he would think he was in budgie heaven...

It makes me cringe when budgies do that, but it is normal. Doesn't it look awfully uncomfortable!! :(Laughing out loud):

I hadn't thought of that!!! I will have to keep my eyes out for some.

Wash your mouth out with soap!!!! :hap: How could you say P R A M on a family forum. I've thought of using baby toys as bird toys, but the ones i've seen are expensive.

Spoons are made from stainless steel, or all the ones i've seen have been anyway, and stainless steel is bird safe. Some come with a hole already to hang on a stand, if you have an old set you could use those.

    Thanks guys! :fear

Maybe just put a piece of newspaper or paper towel under the perch. Budgie poo is so tiny and easy to clean up i wouldn't think there's a market for small poop-catching perches. :fear

These are just some random photos i've taken the last week. The boys are as naughty as ever! Tonight i caught Blinkie trying to seduce poor Mickey's foot, it's a good thing i looked over when i did because poor Migs was looking horrified! Fizzy is less evil since moving in with Uncle Blinkie and Ozzie, he's actually quite a sweetie. You can see Blinkie has been practicing his super model poses. He gives himself regular pedicures to keep his feet looking sexy. Ozzie likes to try posing sometimes too, isn't he cute! And Fizzlet, scrawny as ever, rarely sits still long enough for a photo - but sometimes i get a little lucky They have regular budgie meetings on the boing. My theory is they're plotting to take over the world, but who knows with these little birds. Ozzie was standing up to Blinkie for a change, and telling him not to try to kill him for being in the same cage as his favourite humping toy/s (i.e. all the toys i possess, and in the lack of toys all perches, and in the lack of perches ... the cage bars :fear ).

You can buy shower perches which stick to tiles, glass, mirrors, etc. They usually come in sizes from small to large, so i'm sure you could find one budgie sized. :fear

I bet they were rubbing their itchy heads on the nub on the perch and broke the blood feathers that way. My guys use any little bumps on perches to rub their itchy heads during moults. I sure hope things start looking up for you over the next few days, doesn't sound like your weekend was much fun at all!

You would need to take them to a vet or shelter rather than rear them yourself. As far as i know it's illegal to hold native animals for more than 24 (or maybe 48) hours unless you're a wild life carer. :nest: I think the RSPCA should have taken your complaint more seriously. It doesn't sound like that man investigating you was very professional in allowing his own opinions to affect his judgement (wing clipping). I still find it weird that he had to handle any of the budgies at all. So many people keep budgies locked up in cages permanently, but by RSPCA standards as long as they had the minimum required space, a clean environment and an adequate diet that would be acceptable.

Mine quite like snow peas as well, but i have to say they prefer just regular green peas. They go nuts for them!

I often throw left over seed onto the grass and pick it for the birds once it's grown. It would work just as well in a pot, and i'm sure your budgies would love it.

How completely ridiculous!!! Since when is it a bad thing to have your birds wings clipped? And why in the world would the inspector need to check out each of your birds the way he did. Surely he could see they had a good spacious cage, perches, toys, etc. That alone should be enough to see the birds are happy and healthy!

I've never used bleach before, but haven't had any trouble sprouting seeds. Why does it say you may as well not even bother if you don't use bleach?? I don't like to use bleach on anything of the birds, let alone something they'll eat.

Wow!!! :budgiedance: And i thought Ozzie was a little chunky budge at 50g. :hap:
  17. Was the vet you saw an avian vet, and did he do any tests at all? It sounds like something is up with Buzby, with the loss of appetite and soft poos. Maybe seek a second opinion?

Watching budgies play is tons more interesting than tv. :hap: :(Laughing out loud): They're such cheeky little clowns.

Here's a baby picture that shows his blue better.
  20. Bea replied to Bea's post in a topic in Budgie Pictures
I think we figured he's a goldenface. He had a lot more blue when he was a baby.

Ozzie's blue NEVER shows in photos unless i use the flash, but i was surprised by a photo that actually showed his colour today! You can see the blue on his fat little tummy. And here's my second pretty blue Checking to see that no feathers are out of place.

Congrats!! Sorry it's so late, i must have missed this somehow. I see your baby in that picture too. I take it you're going to find out what gender your bub is if you can. You don't want it to be a surprise?

Here are some photos of my two gorgeous boys Blink and Oz. Mr Ozzie has been stacking on a few grams lately, all muscle of course. "I see you down there Blinkie" "Hmph, well i see you up there too .... fatty"

This little devil is always up to some maniac little scheme. Yesterday he was trying to wipe out the poor little plastic budgie that lives on the play gym. There was a lot of running, pouncing and squawking involved. DIE BUDGIE!!!! DIE!!!! And when a brutal ambush doesn't work.... You wrap it up like a sausage roll!! And if that doesn't work... You may as well wrap yourself up like a sausage roll, life isn't worth living if you can't kill a puny plastic budgie.

Maybe the quails are the ant repellant? I have sand on the floor of my aviary, and have never had ants.
