Welcome to the forums! That's a gorgeous budgie you've got there.

So glad to have you back Chirpy!! You must be so busy with all those birds, but i'm sure it's worth all the hard work to see them happy!! I would also love to know how Teapot is going.

Thanks everyone!! Chirpy, how great to see you again!!
  7. I hope you get some beautiful chicks! I'm sure you will. Keep us posted on the many more hatchlings i'm sure you'll get.
  8. Well my old cockatiel forum, Cuddly Cockatiels, got bombarded with spam, so i deleted it as in was essentially inactive anyway. With the help of a friend we've created a new forum called Talk Cockatiels - it's only very new but i know there are several members here who own cockatiels, so thought some people might be interested. I think it's got great potential. It would be nice to see it active because there really aren't any active cockatiel only forums out there, definitely nothing like this!
  9. This morning we got a bit of sun so i put the flock into the budgie cage and rolled them onto the back porch to catch some rays! The scrawny little Fizz-Wizz (my new fav nickname for him!) Beautiful Cookie Ozzie Oswald Mr Bailee His Royal Stinkiness...oops, i mean Blinkiness Bails again Princess Cookie Fizz Blinko Ozzie One more of Cookie And we finish with Lord Blinks
  10. I'll start with the black and white pics! Fizzy looks particularly nice in b&w... Love this picture! Blinkie didn't really have enough contrasty bits, but is still beautiful as always. :ausb: Same with Ozzie, but geez this bird makes me laugh at snack times! Is this pure budgie bliss or what?!?! Blinkie and Ozzie did much better when the camera was put to "vibrant" setting: Enjoy!
  11. Could there be a possum in your roof stomping around and freaking them out? You've tried everything i would've suggested already. I had problems with night frights with my tiels, in the end i stopped it by only half covering the cage and giving them a night light.
  12. It's worth mentioning that Lime's daddy was split to ino and cinnamon. So 50% chance Lime has those splits too, right?
  13. No, he hasn't. Anyway, the budgies live in the living room, tiels in my bedroom. For the next few days we've moved Fizzy's cage to the living room so i can temporarily put my breeding pair in Tim's room. So he is down with my boys right now.
  14. I don't own any recessive pieds! That's why i was hoping these guys might replenish my pied population a little. :budgiedance: Not to worry, if i get even one that will be a treat, and i'll be happy with whatever babies they produce.
  15. Aww, is that all. :budgiedance: I was hoping that it would be more likely than that.
  16. :(Laughing out loud): I've gone with a different pair instead of Pudding and one of the skyblue spangles. I did this because (and this is so embarrassing), but it would appear that Budge has lost his leg ring and i can't tell Budge and Bobby apart. I would rather know who i'm breeding, so i've got for the ladies man, Lime, and one of his many lady friends, DimSim (if someone can tell me WHAT i was thinking when i named her.... ). He was ready to go when they were in a shoe box going from aviary to cage by the sounds of it. :budgiedance:
  17. :(Laughing out loud): I've never given my budgies anything red, so have never had that sort of experience. I'm glad it was just raspberries and not someone hurt. :budgiedance:
  18. She had one dominant pied parent and one recessive pied parent. She's not split to blue. I've gone with a different pair instead. Lime (normal green/recessive pied) x DimSim (normal cobalt/recessive pied). What's the chances of getting recessive pieds from this paring. They're in Tim's room for a few days so i can just see they're in good health (both seem very lively and healthy), and then they'll move to my room and be given a nest box.
  19. With plans of bringing in a pair of budgies for breeding, my next question is what's the best way to go about creating a bonded pair. In the past i've only ever bothered to set up the ones who are already bonded in the aviary, but this time i'm hoping to use an unbonded pair to get some different mutations. :budgiedance: Is there something i should do? e.g. bring the hen in first, or the male in first?
  20. Bea replied to budgie_dude's topic in Aviaries
Wow!! You've got a massive walk-through aviary in your own backyard! :budgiedance: That's awesome.
  21. I'm thinking in the next few days (after Banjo has gone home and my black cage is free again) i'll bring a pair inside for breeding. The greens in the aviary are grossly under represented, (Laughing out loud), so i would like to get some nice greens from the pair. My first choice of pair would be Jasper/Bobby/Budge x Pudding (skyblue spangle x dominant pied lt green). Am i correct in thinking this could get me spangles, pieds, normals and spangle pieds - all green? x (she has a pied spot)
  22. I have to say i don't think Blinkie was ever as much of a scrawny pipsqueak as Fizzy is, but i would say good looks run in the family. :budgiedance:

I'm glad she's okay now! I HATE discovering blood in the aviary or one of the indoor cages, it's really scary! It's amazing how far the blood can get around.
  24. Today the three little devils were tearing around the living room like maniacs! I haven't seen them so hyped up for quite a while!! :ausb: Here's some photos from today and also some that i've taken over the last few days. Blinkie making a determined move on Cookie, she wasn't really "in the mood" though, so she jumped to the safety of my shoulder. He moved onto innocent (*cough cough*) little Fizzy instead This scared the little scruff ball So he fled to the safety of his buddy Ozzie (i love this photo, look at the size difference!! (Laughing out loud)!! So what if it's exaggerated by camera angle) Fizzy really does love Ozzie, a match made in heaven, (Laughing out loud) Ozzie fancies him too But gets very jealous when he sees Blinkie making a move on his boy But Fizzy is a tough cookie! And puts Blinkie in his place So Blinkie flies over to have a sulk to mummy *cute* *beaky smile* Fizzy doesn't want to miss out on the love either And then it's time to go back to the cage, and Blinkie and Ozzie run straight to their seesaw mirror swing (which they have as a special treat!) Just as a note, Blinkie reached an all new low today. I rearranged the cage the other day and put his humping rings back in, but had them hanging over the cement perch. I ASSUMED that not even Blinkie would be dumb enough to try humping that. *sigh* I was wrong. I hope he's sore you-know-where now, silly bird!
  25. Sometimes one of the budgies in my aviary will break a pin feather and bleed, but as long as the bleeding stops i just leave them be and they're fine. :ausb:
