I'm getting the "Fan of Yours" shredder toy for the tiels (i've been looking for something like that for AGES) and then i'm getting some hanger bolts and washers/wingnuts to make a couple of natural perches, some cotton rope, some leather cord, some pony beads, some quick links and some small wiffle balls. That should give me plenty to make for both the tiels and budgies. :fear

Yup!!! :fear How did you know?!

Riebie found an awesome aussie website that has all kinds of parrot toys and, most excitingly, toy making parts! :fear If you're in Australia or New Zealand (it ships there too) you should check it out. I'm ordering some stuff tomorrow. http://myparrotshop.com/index.php *bounces with excitement*
  5. Whatever he is he's just gorgeous! He looks like a yf2 skyblue something-or-other to me...you'll have to wait for someone to fill in the "something-or-other" though. :fear Maybe a clearwing.

An evil little *insert naughty word here* more like it. :(Laughing out loud): He's absolutely mental.

Here's just a few photos i got of the boys earlier. I was playing around with dads camera, and these were the few i liked. Mr Mozzie Oswald Evil little Fizz Wizz - he's done something to his cere, grazed it on something i think. Poor boy. And a couple of Blinko which i was really pleased with!

When Blinkie takes a nap he MAKES noise, the little sleep talker. Never a minutes peace here.

I use newspaper, sometimes they get ads, sometimes articles. I've actually started reading the paper now. I'll be lining the cages and an interesting article will catch my eye....i'll be standing there reading my birds poop paper.
  10. Whatever they are they are BEAUTIFUL!!
  11. I've heard of this method too. Also, the males pelvic bones will be pointy, and the females blunt.
  12. I think washing it off and boiling it would be a smart idea.

The last cage you posted would be okay for one budgie, but bigger would be better. I've got the last one (that's house shaped). The first one you posted didn't have dimensions that i could see, but it's a silly design. The first of the second lot had too big bar spacing, the second was too small, but i think out of your options the third would be fine. It's approx. the size of my Blinkie's first cage. Remember that 18"x18"x18" is the minimum for a single budgie with 1/2" bar spacing. The last cage is approx. that size.

The aviary looks great!! I would love to have a big shed to convert to an aviary. You did a great job!

Thanks. I think i may as well pop her outside again today. I don't like keeping her and Bob cooped up, and she will be happier with space and all the other budgies.

That's how it is with Akala and Bob. True love and as long as he's with her she's totally happy. The other day when she ended up on the floor he flew down to her side. The possibility of the tumour coming back especially worries me if we were to go with surgery. It would be awful to go through the ordeal only to end up in the same situation shortly afterwards.

Thanks, it helps to hear that because this is the first time i've ever been in a situation like this before. *hugs* I'll see how she's feeling in the morning and decide when to put her back out in the aviary. I'll also put some branches from the floor to the bottom of the wire so that she has a way to get back up to her man if she ends up on the floor again.

Blinkie and Ozzie joined me for a shower tonight which is something they haven't done in a while!! They had so much fun rolling in my hands and getting all soggy and clean. Blinkie was fluffing his feathers ready for a shower the second i put him on his mirror perch in the shower. And look, Blinkie grew a crest to impress girlfriend Cookie!! (Laughing out loud)!!

I'll leave her out with the flock. :budgiedance: I've got her inside tonight, and maybe for a few days just to watch that she doesn't bleed where they tried to juice her lump. The confinement is one of the reasons i don't want to do surgery. If she got through the surgery itself she would have several weeks of being confined inside. I also think this would have to be alone as Spongebob keeps trying to jump on her back (men!) and i can't see that that would be good for a recovering bird. As well as that there's always the chance the lump will come back, or be attached to her in such a way that it's impossible to remove properly. So much could go wrong, and i would hate to put her under the knife when she might be able to live with it happily for a fair while yet.

Thanks Kaz. I was wondering how you handle things like this (if you've had the experience). With so many birds, do you opt for the surgery option or wait and see?
