Budgie Friendly Birds ?
I wouldn't go smaller than a 18"h x 18"d x 30"w flight cage. They're available almost anywhere in Australia for pretty cheap. Even better would be the size up which is 18"d x 36"h x 30"w (that's the size i have my two tiels in).

Budgie Friendly Birds ?
I've got tiels and budgies but they live separately. They can usually come out for play time together though, so you shouldn't have too much of a problem as long as you have somewhere for a nice large cage for a tiel. I think a handreared baby tiel would be wonderful if you trained it around kids. My neighbours have one and their 5 and 9 year old daughters love it and are always playing with it.

Boris In Da House!
It's amazing she's stayed so tame despite being a breeding hen for a while. She's such an awesome budgie.

Petey Has Been Put In Solitary
My aviary birds always have recreational sex, regardless of if they're related or not. In the house, lets just say i've spent the last THREE days listening to Blinkie's ducky toy jingle and he holds it and humps his rope perch. THREE DAYS!!!! I've been putting them to bed earlier, i recently rearranged the cage, and it's just got worse. He's reached a new low in that he no longer cares if it's a rope perch he's humping or if it's his preferred toy he's holding - he'll hump sticks and cage bars aswell. I haven't seen him this turned on since i adopted your grey babies, Leanne, and he met the girls. :(Laughing out loud):

Making Natural Perches
Linking to the instructions would also link to another forum, so i wasn't sure that i should do that. I'll PM them to you Marlony. That's what i do now, but i much prefer the idea of being able to put them anywhere and not having to use branches that are long enough to go from side to side or across corners. I will try to cover the washer on the inside so that they can't get at it. I had another idea, with my cement perches the washers and wingnut are coated with a plastic-y paint. Any ideas what it might be?

Making Natural Perches
Natural Perches I would really like to make some of those perches. I found directions to make them, but it says to use stainless steel screws/bolts/washers/etc. I can find the thread that goes into the perch, but not stainless steel, i figuire this particular part doesn't matter greatly. I did manage to find stainless steel washers and wingnuts...if i wanted to pay $7.50 for 3 washers. That's compared to the 50c or so (maybe less, don't remember) for just your standard galvanised or zinc plated ones. I was wondering if soaking the stuff in vinegar would have the same effect as scrubbing down galvanised mesh (like used in aviaries), making it safe to use? Opinions? I would really like to make some perches, but by the time i get enough washers/wingnuts to make the perches, i would have spent over $30 which is completely insane.

Updated - Recent Article In The Sunday Age M Magazine (melbourne)
I couldn't find your response to the article (can someone tell me where i can find it I scrolled to the bottom of the page that was linked to and found nothing), but i did read the article. It's really terrible. I don't see how you could put budgies and cockatiels in separate groups, they the two most popular pet birds in most places for their easiness to tame.

Budgies And Curtains
If for punishments you use it on jet, and baths on mist, you may find you can use a squirter for both purposes...

Drought & The Cost Of Seed:
You need to watch that they are still useing quality seed & not useing a cheap filler. How would i know? I've successfully sprouted the seed mix before, so i'm pretty sure it's reasonably fresh.

Drought & The Cost Of Seed:
I buy budgie seed mix from the pet shop for my aviary budgies and the price hasn't gone up that i've noticed. It's about $16 for a 10kg bag.

Cage Troubles
Cages arrived today - first one we open, exposed metal EVERYWHERE!! :budgiedance: Little spots and parts not powder coated properly just waiting to rust. And on one of the side panels it's barely powdercoated, it looks dull and feels different to the rest of the cage. Dad's telling me that my expectations of a perfect cage are unrealistic and that i should just accept it but I WILL NOT!! This cage we've opened is WORSE than the ones i'm taking back. :ausb: I'm going to have to contact the eBay seller and see what to do about it. I'm so angry!!!

Budgies And Curtains
My guys have recently taken to chewing our wooden blinds, GRRRR!! All i can do at the moment is patiently stand up and get them to step up each time they land on the blinds, then i put them on their gym. It's extremely frustrating, but after a while they lose interest if i won't let them chew and they don't fly over to them so much.

Baby Budgies Barred Foreheads:
I've had regular pet budgies who've not had the bars right down to their ceres, so i don't think it's a pet vs show type thing...

What Do U Guys Think?
Here's the cages i'm getting: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/NetEasyStore-Brand-...oQQcmdZViewItem That's a good price for it too.

How Uncommon Are These ?
Common from what i've seen in pet shops.
-
What Do U Guys Think?
First cage is good, second cage the bar spacing is much too big for budgies. :hap:

Just Some Budgie Fun
