Hard to Find Mutations
Do you need a greywing? I have a greywing now! :yellowhead:

Poor Budgies!
This topic seems the perfect place to bring up the fact that my favourite pet shop currently has no birds at all because they are moving their birds to the bottom level where they are getting aviaries built! :yellowhead: I'm very pleased about this!

Pickle and his vet visit
Maybe he could have some practice rounds with Blinks! :blow:

Pickle and his vet visit
:(Laughing out loud): This is becoming the match of the year...who shall be victorious?

Pickle and his vet visit
I'm never going to be left alone about Gherk am i? :yellowhead: I never thought about Blinks counting as a bully! :(Laughing out loud): I will just take things as they come, maybe Pickle will have to become an indoor birdie but i think that if he regains his old energy then he deserves a chance to go out and win his lady back.

Pickle and his vet visit
You think that's funny! First time Buzz went to the vet she got labled a 'plump and healthy female budgie'!!! :(Laughing out loud): She got the nickname Plumpy for a while after that.

Pickle and his vet visit
I think it will continue to grow out and the blood supply dry out so that is can be preened out.

Pickle and his vet visit
Yeah, i really hope he fixes that blood quill soon. It looks terrible. As far as i can tell it broke, the blood dried and mangled the feathery bits and now it's all moulded in an odd shape and if you pull at it it starts to bleed. :glare:

:(Laughing out loud): Dad just told me what the vet wrote in the computer under treatment: keep away from bullies!

Pickle and his vet visit
Gherkin and Buzz are always sneaking in kisses behind Lime's back now! Wow! That is strange Nerwen! :glare: Must be something about the age.

Pickle and his vet visit
He's about 2. I've had him a year. I think he's given up on the ladies....he put all his effort into winning Buzz's heart when he first arrived and then his snotty son went and nicked her! :glare: Next month i'm going to give Lime a kick up the butt though...i'm planning on trying to breed Gherkin to Buzz.

Pickle and his vet visit
Well i don't know if it's because he's a bit under the weather but he was sitting perfectly on the vets finger throughout the whole consultation. :glare: He also eats celery out of my hand.

Pickle and his vet visit
Depends i supose...if he perks right up after a bit of isolation then i might try putting him back out in the aviary. But then we could just end up right back at square one because Lime is a bully boy. :glare:

Pickle and his vet visit
This afternoon when i went out to check my budgies i noticed Pickles wing drooping down funny and caught him for a closer look. He had some weird thing poking out of it. :fear His feet were also not gripping the perch too well. Anyway, we called the vet and got an appointment and Pickle has been diagnosed with: weak feet, a mangled blood quill (couldn't be pulled because it would bleed really really bad, it has to dry up so Pickle can preen it away), and also severe stress which we believe to be caused by his son Lime. Lime has stolen Pickle's mate (and his own mother!) and since then Pickle has been a bit down. The vet recommended that i put him in a less stressful environment away from Slimey Lime so that his wing can heal and he can get over the loss of his mate. He's in my bedroom in a little cage which the vet said would be fine as it is important that he doesn't fly too much. At the vets Pickle was sitting quite happily on the vets finger so i'm thinking of attempting to tame him up a bit...i think the trick in this case might be celery. :glare:

OOOOOooooo....i love them!!! They look so sweet!

new budgies
1. As they are so young you should use millet to bribe them onto your fingers...once they are tame a small piece about once a week is good. 2. It's a good idea to cover them at night because then their bedtime can be regular regardless of when you go to bed...it also seems to give them a sense of security. 3. By covering them you're giving them dim light so the light shouldn't bother them. 4. Trill definitely has the best reputation as far as i can tell. Get the complete budgie mix as that has more types of seed than the regular budgie mix. 5. brocolli, carrot, spinach, zuchinni, apple, etc. They're all good. It might take a while to convince your budgies that it's food though. 6. mashed egg and shell is good for all budgies. 7. definitely always supply them with a cuttlebone.

Hard to Find Mutations
If it is then Lemon isn't a lutino....she's a lacewing.

still no eggs
Perhaps they don't like each other enough to breed.

A Color Question
I just checked Blinkie and he has a slightly different blue on his shoulders.

What do i do now?!?
Is there any way that Mr C's post could be pinned? It is a very good piece of advice and gives necessary information in a calm and gentle way. It would certainly save a lot of heated discusions whenever new breeders or potential breeders join.

1 minute sick & the next happy
Please keep us updated on how he goes at the vet.

Clipping of Claws
I used to trim my first budgies nails with no troubles...someone showed me how the first time. Now, 5 years later i've lost my nerve and would never even try. I'd be terrified of cutting too far and the budgie bleeding to death.
-
Throwing eggs out
A little spoon and watered down egg and biscuit mix. If you don't have that you blend some museli so it's super fine and water it down with warm water.

Loud noises
Whenever i use a vaccum cleaner Blinkie goes nuts...happy nuts though, he seems to really like the noise.

Loud noises
None of the birds outside have eggs or chicks. Only Razzo and Budge do and they are in my bedroom. We're getting it done by professionals because it's grown into the powerlines and could be dangerous but i'll see if we can arange for the chainsaw to be started away from the aviary. I just remembered that dad has used the lawnmower and a whipper snipper right beside the aviary and neither of those scared them. I'll still be sure to cover them though.
