It depends on how much you want the bird to still be able to fly. Try just trimming the outer 3 or 4 and if that doesn't work do 1 or 2 more until you have reached the desired effect.

And mutations like feather dusters result from inbreeding.

Thought i'd just post this picture i have of Jasper and Bubble side by side, it really show the comparason between a baby boy and a baby girl. Bubble (top) is a girl and Jasper is a boy.

It depends on whether you want to breed or not. You could just shake the egg and throw it out and hope that she doesn't try again, it might help if you move the food dish aswell.
  13. All good ideas! I can't wait till Saturday!

  16. This weekend we are going out to this big pet supply warehouse that has tons of supplies way cheaper than all the other pet shops around here. Ofcourse this idea is super exciting to me and i just thought i'd ask you guys what you think i need while i'm out there. So far i plan to get a calcium perch, some pellets, some toys (of course!) and some mineral bells. Anything else i should add to my shopping list?

Some budgies (like yours) get really into bathing so therefore the become wetter. If they just splash around a little bit then they don't get soaking wet.

Is she tame? Or does she get scared of you? Some of my scaredy birds breathe heavily if i bother them too much. Is she at all overweight? This can also make the breathe more heavily.

Both Buzz and Razzo eat the egg shells. Otherwise they just get shoved into a corner and you can clean it out once the babies develop a bit more. Next Wednesday! Gee, time seems to be flying past!

(Laughing out loud)...i still say don't stress over it. Scoobery has 4 little babies and she asked a similar question about her smallest. And all over Razzo's youngest babies have been way smaller than the others while they were in the box. Once they fledge everything evens out. Squeak was the first to moult and to get a properly blue cere! :glare:

(Laughing out loud), i'm sure you'll always keep an intensly close eye on all your babies...all of us birdie parents do. :glare:

Here, i found some pictures that might make you feel better. Blinkie at about 3 and a bit weeks. Squeak only a few days younger! :glare:

The littlest baby always seems to develop much much slower. I think it's because the others are puchier and get more food. You shouldn't worry as budgies seem very able to manage chicks of all different ages. :glare:

Well we know she's a fighter and you've jumped on it straight away...let's hope this is the last hurdle little Merls has to face!
