Yep! Blinkie used to always eat only the oat things in the seed, he still eats them first but he also eats everything else!

I thankfully haven't had to try any method yet. Blinks is so talented and he just never poos on his rope perch!!

Anywhere from about 28g - 35g i think for a regular pet budgie, a bit heavier for a show budgie. 2 teaspoons of seed a day as well as some fresh fruits and veggies is a good amount for them. It's good to measure seed as it basically forces them to eat ALL the types of seeds in the mix not just their favourite.

You mentioned being able to see into the nest? I think that it would be difficult to move the babies and mum without seriously distressing both until they are at least 2-3 weeks. Then, as Karen said, you'd be able to hand feed them if mum doesn't like her babies being played with. Offer mum a cuttlebone and lots of veggies as it'll be draining for her feeding herself and her babies especially if dad's not helping.

I can't imagine a mechanical way to successfully de-hull seeds! And if it was done seed by seed can you imagine how expensive a packet of it would be?! :(Laughing out loud):

What's a water based pen? Are they special or just the kind of pen you'd find lying around the house?

What do people use to mark the order which the eggs are laid? Is a normal HB pencil safe to use on the eggs?
