Question About Feather Dusters And Lacewings
Feather dusters usually don't survive for long and the parents that produce them are usually not bred together again. I am not 100% sure but i think the parents carry a deficiency and that's why they are produced, could be wrong with that. This isn't a lacewing, it is a cinnamon. A lacewing would either be pure white or pure yellow with brown wing markings. Thanks

Maz7's Breeding Journal
Hi, Yes i have had this happen not too long ago, they had 2 rounds together in the same box and raised 7 on the first attempt and 2 on the second as most of the eggs didn't hatch. Seemed very odd but it worked out, i found that one female would mostly maintain the eggs while the other would guard the door of the box. They both sat on the eggs but 1 did it more often than the other.

Looking great Witherd, don't stress about the seed hoppers, just when you get a bit of time. Ange, witherd started a topic on his breeding cabinets in a different topic. Here is the link http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index.php?showtopic=32704- Breeding Cages

Yellow is female- 2 Cute Budgies Possible Male Or Female?
First looks female but may need better angle and 2nd is 100% male Thanks- Help Please Any Ideas?
The baby looks normal. Father is opaline, could mother be yellow face type2 or golden face?- You Should
Hi, When letting birds out of there cages windows should be covered and doors closed so things like injuries and deaths can't occur. Some owners like to clip the wings at a young age while the birds are learning and then they will let them grow out. Thanks- Help Please Any Ideas?
Not so good with mutations either, could possibly be high in melanin. Wait for others- Sex? And Possible Age?
It has the pinkish cere with blue coming through which is male but also a large amount of white which would indicate female. May need some better photos. Looks fairly young, bird has clipped wings, but unsure of what's wrong with the tale, could this be French moult? I haven't seen this before but also I don't know much about French moult so it may have nothing to do with it. Wait for some more replys. Thanks- Word Game
- What Mutation?
Hi, I think they are both grey wings but I am not 100% sure when it comes to these because they can be dilutes etc. the second one also appears to be opaline.- Which Mutation Is Monty?
Sorry I just read what I said and I mean because she is golden face the blue will change, the opaline only allows the body colour to come through the wings. Sorry- Which Mutation Is Monty?
Hi, She is a blue golden face opaline. Because she is opaline as she moults the blue will turn to a sea foam green. Thanks- Who Are You?!
Hi jimmy banks, Welcome back to the forum, I remember you when I first joined. This was around the time some of the more experienced members were still around :laughter: . I thought it would be fun to say some things about me from your questions so here it is: How long have you been a member of the forum for? I have been on the forum since the 11th of June 2012, so that would make it getting close to 2 years now. How long have you kept budgies for? Not sure exactly, I have been breeding them for the past 4 years but I have had budgies in my backyard for some years before I started the breeding. What is your favourite mutation? Like you I think the lacewing is a very nice mutation, I have bred a couple of my own and they are quite nice to look at. I am also a fan of the grey wings and also the yellow face on a grey wings body, not sure why but it is appealing to me. Blue or Green Series? I always like looking at the green series birds but I think blue is more appealing. How many birds do you keep at the moment? I think I have around 35 at the moment, I haven't had a proper count for a while might be close to 40. What do you prefer Pet or Show type? I like the pet types. What got you into budgies? Just having them in the aviary when i was little got me into them Thanks, Nathan- Show Cages For Sale

Hi withered, Thanks a lot, take your time with the instructions it isn't urgently needed. It looks like it is coming a long very well, good luck with the rest of it- New Aviary
Looks like it is slowly coming along well witherd, are you able to post instructions on how to make the seed hopper? Looks like a good design and I wouldn't mind trying it out. How do you go about getting rid of the empty husks from the seeds? Thanks- Enhancing Yellow In Lutinos
Thanks for the help guys, the first lacewing i bred was from a split ino cock and a normal dark green hen and she is a fairly deep yellow. So I guess I will just purchase a new cock to pair with one of my lacewings.- Enhancing Yellow In Lutinos
Hi all, I have a couple of lutino lacewings and also a lutino split to lacewing. The yellow displayed in my lacewings are quite strong but I am wanting to have a nice buttercup look to the baby lutinos/lacewings. Bred a couple lacewings from the season just passed and the babies were very pale yellow. I have read that the dark greens or olive greens are best to use in lutino lines but i am wondering if it is the same for lacewing lines. Cinnamon often takes out the color so would I need to breed pure lutinos with dark greens? I'm also not sure if you are able to get dark greens or olive greens split to lutino, if you can get them split, is it better to breed splits to my lacewing hens or just pure greens. I have only got one cock which is lutino and the rest of my lacewings are female. Thanks- What Sex You Think This Could Be
I had a closer look at my lacewings and instead of brown cheek patches they have pale violet. Not as strong as the cheek patches of yours. - New Aviary
