  1. Large amount of white on the cere which would indicate female
  2. I would say that's a young female
  3. If the eyes don't get an iris ring that would suggest recessive pied, if the beak goes blue that would most likely mean just dom pied. I'm pretty certain it is a double factor. Check out this site: http://www.cutelittlebirdiesaviary.com/help-to-identify-double-factor-dominant-pied-budgies.html
  4. I think he could be a DF Dom pied, if he gains an iris ring and has a fleshy colored beak I would go with DF dom.
  5. I would say either this pair: A double factor violet spangle male and an albino lace wing hen, I believe she is masking dom pied. They've only had 2 babies, which are still in the box, one is a violet dom pied spangle and the second is a violet spangle. Or this pair: I only bought these birds this year from different breeders. opaline sky blue spangle (possibly cinnamon) female and a yellow face violet male. They've produced 11 babies, opaline spangles, yellow face opaline spangles(first picture), yellow face violet opaline spangles and opalines.
  6. Very beautiful bird, does it have iris rings?
  7. Did you mean this budgie? if so, he is a normal grey wing. I keep records of my birds, I know multiple males may belong to a nest but I can pretty much tell which babies are from which pairs and I know a bit about each of my pairs history.
  8. I thing most would compliment each other, do you know the ages of the birds as they look fairly young?
  9. I have sold most of the babies that i bred this season, got a fair few spangles this season which was a nice surprise.
  10. Might not be large scale colony breeding but it only takes one nasty hen to brake eggs and kill chicks.
  11. Many people would advise against colony breeding, I currently colony breed and so far have not had any major problems. If you do go on to colony you will need to have at least double the amount of boxes than pairs, it is also advised to have all boxes at the same height. how many pairs do you plan on breeding in the aviary?
  12. Hi all, These are some of the babies that I have just recently bred
  13. Hi and welcome, sounds like you have a good collection of birds. Love the one on the skateboard
  14. Hi, I'm not a show breeder so I am unsure at exactly what to be looking for. but your birds seem to look nice and big, the have clean feathers and your grey seems to have a nice big head. you will have to wait until some show breeders have a look, but from what i can see they look like good birds.

    hi and welcome
  16. Hi and welcome, those look like some beautiful birds
  17. How do you plan on breeding your birds? Will it be in a aviary with several pairs (colony breeding) or will you be putting them into breeding cabinets? If you are cabinet breeding you have the choice of picking certain pairs to produce certain colors, or you could allow birds to pick there own partners in the aviary and then move them to a cabinet.
  18. Hi and welcome, there is plenty of information to go through on the forum.
  19. has 2 chicks in the box which are starting to get a few feathers and are looking spangle which would indicate him being DF.
  20. Possibly could be molting, I think he should be fine and the vet will be able to explain things better by seeing the bird in person
  21. Hi, Sorry this wasn't answered sooner, at 30 days old this bird would be leaving the nest and would be close to feeding by it self. http://www.bcv.asn.au/Chicks.htm This website seems to have a bit of information on it, possibly add a millet spray to where the bird is being kept. As that is fairly easy for them to chew on. Hopefully all goes well with it
  22. Hi, From everything you've said he sounds like he is perfectly healthy except for this. I often see my birds fluff up and then go back to normal shortly after, but this sounds a bit different. How long has it been going on for?
  23. I've just noticed that the bird I thought was a DEC has developed iris rings which would make him a DF spangle wouldn't it? I was having a look through some old topics and I found these posts which show DF spangles with heave suffusion so it is possible for him. Any thoughts? And this is the link to where I got this quote: http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index.php?showtopic=28930&st=20 I do not believe this bird is a YF DF spangle. Here's one of mine Here's that bird Nubbly I'm gonna have to tell you people to pull your heads in aren't I. YES the top bird is a DF Spangle. LOOK AT THE CHEEK PATCHES - are the mottled violet & white???? NO they are pure white. It's a DF Spangle okay! And no kaz the bird I was thinking about was this one. Also a DF spangle. YES IT IS - LOOK AT THE CHEEK PATCH! okay?!
  24. I don't really know how things go with taming, but I believe ignoring it would be best as the bird is no longer getting a reaction and will soon get bored of the habit.
