  1. Hi, If you check this topic I believe finnies answer may be able to give you some information http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index.php?showtopic=33241&hl= Thanks
  2. Female, I think she could be young but uncertain
  3. Yes it is extremely confusing as birds are referred to different mutations on different websites. It's hard enough understanding the mutation under one name and then they throw in a couple more names and your unsure what you're reading.
  4. Hi and welcome to the forum, sorry for your loss, just post any questions you have in the appropriate sections and you should get some answers Thanks
  5. Hi and welcome to the forum
  6. After doing some searching would I be right to say pied 1 is a light green clear flight pied, pied 2 is a grey recessive pied, pied 3 is a golden face opaline dominant pied and number 4 is a cobalt double factor dominant pied? or is pied 3 also a double factor dominant pied? Also would pairing pied 2 to my Dark Eyed Clear produce more Dark Eyed Clears? Thanks
  7. Hi all, I would like some help to identify my pieds, I think most of them are dominant but I am not sure Pied #1 Back Front Pied #2 Back Front Pied #3 Please refer to above picture for front view Back Pied #4 Back Front Has iris rings but has violet and silver cheek patches, flesh colored skin and flesh cere Dark eyed clear with suffusion? Any help would be appreciated thanks
  8. Hi all, Would a recessive Danish pied be the same as a recessive pied? And if not what would the differences be? Thanks
  9. congratulations on the babies, keep the box where it is. The babies will be fine, they may not be able to fly straight away when they leave the box but they will be able to safely glide to the floor without causing injury.
  10. These are the parents Baby 1 Baby 2 Baby 3 Baby 4 Baby 5 Any thoughts on colours please let me know, 4 first are spangle last one is normal opaline, i know first 2 are yf too Thanks
  11. Looks like the male was split opaline, I have 4 opaline spangles, 2 are yellow face. And the last baby is a normal blue opaline. Photos to come shortly
  12. Hi there, I've never housed finches with budgies so I haven't seen this behaviour with finches. But I do house cockatiels with my budgies, and I had one cockatiel who would help the female budgie incubate the eggs and raise the babies. I've heard many people say how budgies can be extremely vicious birds, but I've seen them interact in very odd and peaceful ways. I guess it all comes down to the birds personality.
  13. I think I have a yellow face spangle, a normal yellow face, a blue spangle and 2 young birds too hard too tell colour.
  14. Thanks for the reply Finnie, the dad has no other visual mutations other than yellowface. So far 2 out of 5 babies appear to be yellow faces, but 2 babies are only starting to get fluff so haven't begun to get any colour.
  15. Are you getting some more budgies?
  16. I'm not the best with the cobalt and mauve, but I think you are right in it being a cobalt pied

Hi and welcome, you'll be able to learn heaps from the forum. It's good you are wanting to gather all the information first before breeding and this is one of the best places you can come.
  18. This is the baby I am wondering if yellow face, you are able to see little bits of yellow coming through the wings These are 2 siblings I cleaned the box today, and removed the poo that was stuck to the babies. Thanks for the help
  19. beautiful looking male, congrats on the buy.
  20. Hi all, I have a baby that is starting to get pin feathers, and the feathers coming through the wing appear to have yellow on them. The father of this baby is a yellow face t2 (I think) with a purple body (does that mean mauve?) the mum is a sky blue opaline cinnamon spangle. Would it possible to have a yellowface from this pairing, and will I get spangles? Thanks
  21. I wouldn't be surprised if the male is a spangle
  22. yeah I've heard of the things that can happen when colony breeding, thankfully nothing drastic has ever happened. I've had the odd scuffle in the aviary but if you watch carefully you can usually tell which is the trouble maker hen and remove her early. You see some amazing things when housing the birds together, I also keep a couple of cockatiels in the aviary with the budgies and surprisingly some females allow the cockatiels to help raise the babies.
  23. No need to worry about breeding as long as you don't add a breeding box. The birds may participate in recreational mating and may lay a egg off there perch but you can just remove the egg from the cage so they don't nest.
